View Full Version : Radios?
I haven't got a clue about radios. What I need is (VHF/UHF I believe) is a 'base station' and 2 x 'handheld' radios.
Asking, since I wouldn't have a clue where to start.
I haven't got a budget - go nuts :P
Cheers
Luke

It depends what you wanna do? Do you want a couple of basic walkie talkies or what? Generally you'll need a license :P
It's for RAF operations :L. Long range, be used in 'field craft' probobly

I believe Wing could loan them to your Squadron?
With the hand-helds, use the Motorola CP040s, they're quite useful - pretty robust too so they can be used on green nights.
As for a Base Station, make sure it has an antenna/ mask. We use the Clansman PRC320 (VHM as a base station, make sure it's tuned to the ATC frequency :P

You may need a license for some, but just ask your CO to go onto BADER for information or ask your wings radio officer.
I really want to get onto a Radio course! >.>

Surely you could of asked the people at the RAF? :S Just find it odd you are asking a question on here which they could of answered. Not the links to the base stations/radios or what not, the other bit! :P
