Idea: Competition changes

I propose a radical shake up of the competitions system. I think it would be better if you won tokens in competitions which you can then spend on prizes, you could have a thread in the competitions forum with how many tokens each person has much like you do with who won what competition. This makes the job of the competitions staff much easier because rather than having to repeatedly give out prizes they can give them out less frequently and when someone wins a competition they just have to change a number on a list. Take me for example, I won a competition 2 weeks ago, one last week and some this week, the competition staff have had to co-ordinate times and trade with me 3 times in 3 weeks. This could have all been done at once when I "redeemed my prize". It also simplifies the somewhat complicated system where you can trade a HC in for 15 reputation but not vice versa.

So lets use an example, say I have 4 Points. I go to the redemption thread and it says:
3 Points = 3 HC sofas
8 Points = 10 HC sofas
1 Point = 15 Rep
5 Points = 100 Rep

I can then PM the competitions staff saying that I want 3 HC sofas to get the transaction done or I could enter some more competitions so I can get 10 HC sofas. This way it minimises hassle for the competitions staff because the redemption of 1 HC is gone altogether and they have to give away the prizes less often. It also encourages users to enter more competitions because they get more for their points if they have a lot, a kind of discount I guess.

I don't really like this :P I like how the system works now as honestly I wouldn't like to keep trying to enter so many competitions. I like winning a HC Sofa each time :) but I guess if this did happen I'd be okay with it ;)

Well I suppose you could still have the 1 point for 1 HC but then give incentives to save by giving more HCs or giving rep alongside the prizes. It's just an idea :)

I do agree that the current prize-giving system is a bit slow, complex and time-consuming however we've had to try work round Habbo's ridiculous restrictions on what we can do (I miss the days of donation rooms when we could just drop things in :() - and I'm sure hackers do too :P

I think it's a good idea however I would be worried about the impact that this would have on new members. While the old members may be able to get their heads round it as they're here more frequently, those that drop in and out may find it a bit too confusing. I can imagine a couple of months down the line (if we did this idea). Prize: 3 tokens and a new member not getting it.

Kk I've been thinking about this for the last 40 minutes. I actually can't think of much to say but personally I don't like it. If we did do it like this we would have a hell of a lot of things to change, as it was only for the World Cup prizes remained the same. This means that one comeptition could be worth 1 token and another 5. Also, what do we do with VIP? We're only allowed to give out a certain amount a month and if there was 10 people who wanted to redeem their 'tokens' for VIP, we wouldn't be able to do it and disaster strikes. I would go on but I actually have to go out soon and I don't think there is much to add.

It actually is a good idea in the making. It would have been excellent when competitions were like they were in 2009 (in 2010 we had a massive revamp with 40-44 competitions a month...hopefully) but now it would just prove too difficult. What do we do about the competitions winners list? How would it be organised? How could we keep track? It would probably be more work for us (not saying we're lazy) but I think it would ruin the system: I don't know what General Management and Michael think. I also think it would be less appealing for new users, although many might not know what 'rep' is, and also there is more freedom with the choice of prize, but they'll instantly think "what the bloody hell is a token, is it an award?". I don't know though, I'll direct Michael here.

Well it's something that I think Mike and I should discuss because although it may attract new users, it isn't a bad idea tbh. We'll have a little talk when we can and we'll get back to you ASAP (not next month).
