Hi, I'm wanting to take a contract out, however I'm having a difficult time deciding between these two models.

Curve: £15 a Month with phone free.
Bold: £25 a Month with phone free.

Is the bold worth £10 a month more than the curve? What useful features does it include? I'm not really interested in camera quality.

I have the curve, never had the bold so I don't know the difference but... The curve has never let me down :)

Bold is more buisness type is what I've heard... I've seen this offer on Virgin.. is this the one you're looking at?

Well, I've just ordered a curve as I had a little look at both of them and I think the curve would suit someone who was just using it as an everyday phone better. I found that the bold as said above was more of a business professional type of phone. :)

Yeah I'm looking at the Virgin deal.

I notice that the Bold has 3G while the Curve does not? I would like fairly quick internet access.

I'll be shot and thrown in the river for this:

Why are you buying a blackberry when it is completely inferior to competitive smartphones?

iPhone 4 - http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html

iPhone 3gs - http://www.apple.com/iphone/iphone-3gs/

Nexus One - http://www.google.com/phone/static/en_US-nexusone_tech_specs.html

HTC Desire - http://www.htc.com/www/product/desire/specification.html

Moto Droid - http://www.letsgomobile.org/en/cellular/2076/motoroladroid/

Samsung Galaxy - http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9000_galaxy_s-3115.php

HTC Evo - http://phandroid.com/2010/03/23/htc-evo-4g-specs-published-by-sprint/

You can buy a second hand G1 dirt cheap which even has a keyboard and out preforms every RIM handset android flavoured. Blackberry devices just force you to waste money on dataplans because they have a crappy WAP browser and crappy application availability, not to mention the horrible horrible technical specifications and low resolution screen.

Actually, Blackberrys are widely considered better than any of those smartphones, don't ask me why but quite a few people prefer them :S

And Dave, don't tell anyone to get a G1! They're coming up to two years old, they're slow and clunky now.

Not sure if this is correct but hey!

If it was me, I would go with the 9700 due to the fact it has 3G while the other one doesn't.

The problem is Hotel, that I don't want a touch screen phone. I've had one for about 6 Months now and I'm sick of it. Also, I want something I can get free with a contract and not dish out extra cash for.

They prefer them because they don't know any better because they haven't really experienced what's better.

Tom: You and I were using G1s up until like--a few months ago :P

Yeah, but compared to my Desire it runs like a dog.

Stephen doesn't want a touchscreen, his best bet is a Blackberry IMO

As does mine, but if I didn't have my Nexus I'd still want a G1 over a blackberry. Heck, I'd take a WinMo handset over a blackberry. They just suck.

That's not fair to say. :)) I had an Android phone for the whole of a month and grew to hate it, I decided to give BB a try because I wanted away from touch screens and I'm completely chuffed with it.
I've tried a bit of everything and came to love BB the most.

BB phones are amazing for communication, and everything feels integrated, thats why people like it.

That doesn't click for me because when I had a blacberry Curve I wanted to throw it in a lake. Everything feels integrated but compared to the competition everything doesn't really consist of anything!

Blackberry handsets WILL be phased out, it's my lifelong dream!

I'd go with the 9700 for the 3G (like someone said), and the better camera (even though you said you really didn't care about it.

That being said, if all you're going to be using it for is say, texting/email/calling, the 3G probably isn't necessary.

I got the 9700 yesterday and I love it. The keyboard is so easy to use and I can actually text now :P

Your personal distaste doesn't make BB's bad phones. They just make them not your taste.

Within the last month, I have had the BlackBerry Storm 2, BlackBerry Curve 8520 and my current one is the BlackBerry Bold 9700, this is by far the better one of what I have had, i certainly do not recommend the Storm 2 as it is a terrible phone, but I do recommend getting the 9700 it is amazing! you will not regret it.
