I HATE THEM SO MUCH :@

I recently got 50mb broadband installed, and they sent me a new router.
The router they sent didnt work, so it took them 2 week to send out a new one.

I setup the new router, ran a speed test to find these speeds. Not to mention my wireless signal thats allways on 4/5bars even tho im right next to it. My old one was allways 5/5 bars.

Anyway i rang virgin media up and asks what the hell was wrong with my broadband, and they said theres been a problem in my area for 2 week, even tho ive had 50mb for about a month its still allways been around 20mb.

Anyone got an ideas on what to do to get my speed up at 50mb ?

You can do nothing apart from demand you get dropped down to the 20MB service. Some areas just aren't cut out for the 50MB service.

Hmm i didnt think being in a certain area caused problems with broadband speeds, i live in the middle of the city so it should be good for 50mb speeds.
Anyway they said theyll take of £15 from my bill since im not getting the service they should be giving me.

At least you are having decent upload speeds compared to people on the packages below yours. :P

I supose thats true, but when they say you get 50mb and you struggle to get 20mb it is abit :@
They did say my speed should be up by the end of this week, so ill wait untill then and if its not sorted i guess ill just change to the 20mb package.

Do a speedtest while connected via ethernet.

Also, that upload is not what you're supposed to have.

I ran a speedtest connected via ethernet and it was around the same results, 20mb.

Also, what is my upload meant to be?.

Is it my internet or is it speedtest.net because the resuslts change all the time, now its.

Sounds like your line is configured incorrectly. If that upload speed test is accurate, you should only be getting a max of 1.6mb/s:

Ask them to get an engineer out, and always use Ethernet when testing speeds. The amount of data transfer you loose on WiFi even on a 108mbps router, in my experience, is ridiculous.

Try getting charged for a large TV package when you get small.
Virgin Media are a bunch of planks who have "engineers" who aren't even engineers LOL.

Depends on the router you use, I get ~50mbit using my router anywhere in the house.
