It would probably be better to go with other BT line providers like Plusnet (http://www.plus.net/), BE (https://www.bethere.co.uk/), or TalkTalk (http://broadband.talktalk.co.uk/)- as they seem to actually know what broadband is, and don't peddle 'busy internet' adverts all of the time. Either that, or upgrade your package with BT and you'll probably get a faster speed arranged.

I haven't had an ADSL connection for ages now, but BT themselves aren't very good for broadband personally.

Techically though, it could be that you're far away from an exchange, or haven't got one of those line splitters.

If you pay for 8Mb that's good.

Stick with BT, We've been with them and they've been pretty good, nearly moved because they managed to screw our billing up but it soon got sorted.

I've found BT to be a very good ISP, I've been with them for a few months now and it's been great.

I pay for 20MB (Option 3) but my exchange only handles 8MB so I get a good speed still. (£28 a month)

I get the fastest speeds for my area with BT, so that's fine.

And they're upgrading our exchange to BT Infinity fibre optic cabling soon (FTTC), so should get roughly 15MB speeds from my house (it's quite a distance from the cabinet!)
