View Full Version : Pakistan scans Google, other sites for blasphemy.
Pakistan will monitor seven major websites, including Google and Yahoo, to block anti-Islamic links and content, an official said Friday. Seventeen lesser-known sites are being blocked outright for alleged blasphemous material.
The moves follow Pakistan's temporary ban imposed on Facebook in May that drew both praise and condemnation in a country that has long struggled to figure out how strict a version of Islam it should follow.
Both the Facebook ban and the move announced Friday were in response to court orders. The sites to be monitored include those of Yahoo Inc., Google Inc. and its YouTube service, Amazon.com Inc. and MSN, Hotmail and Bing from Microsoft Corp., said Pakistan Telecommunication Authority spokesman Khurram Mehran.
"If any particular link with offensive content appears on these websites, the (link) shall be blocked immediately without disturbing the main website," Mehran said.

Ever since Pervez Musharraf stepped down Pakistan has got steadily worse, I hope he and his new party can make it back to the top because Pakistan badly needs him and his style of government, not to mention his moderate policies.

Only racist going by the Habbox definition. :P
Pervez Musharraf was head of the military and was the President as well, he had to step down as both in the end as he was under pressure. He was a very moderate leader and in the years he ruled Pakistan it improved greatly, the armed forces and security forces became world class and the place looked almost western with new roads, lamps and a general improvement in the economy - a massive economic boom infact. He has launched a new political party and many in Pakistan now want him back so we shall see if he ever returns to office (I think theres a very good chance he will). The country under the political elite who rule it now is a joke, its falling apart. As Pakistan also has nuclear weapons and with its British past, I very much hope it improves fast.
