Woman claims tea not properly served
Mother dropped hot cup on infant baby
Hot cup needed 'insulating sleeve'

A MOTHER is suing over a cup of scalding tea that she claims severely burned her infant son at a New York City Starbucks.

Villona Maryash claims the tea was "improperly served" without a protective sleeve, the New York Post reported,
Ms Maryash's suit, filed in Brooklyn Supreme Court on Friday, stems from an incident on October 9 last year.
Her five-month-old son, Arnold Glouchko, was next to her in a stroller at a Starbucks store.
While she waited for the rest of her food order, she went to take a sip of the tea, she said.
When she picked up the cup, it was so hot that she dropped it, and the contents spilled over her son, causing "serious injuries," said her lawyer, Martin Garfield.
He said the tea should have been served on a tray and with an insulating sleeve

"This cup was improperly served, and that's the reason my client dropped it on her baby," he said.
There was no immediate comment from Starbucks.
In May, a New York customer sued Starbucks for serving him "unreasonably hot" tea in a container that was "not safe." He claimed he suffered "great physical pain and mental anguish."

This is like the woman who tried sueing Google because she got ran over after following one of their maps LOL

Some people will do anything for money, she should accept it's an accident and move on.

"I DROPPED BOILING HOT TEA ON MY BABY"

"I DROPPED BOILING HOT TEA ON MY BABY BECAUSE IT SHOULD OF BEEN IN AN INSULATING SLEEVE"

Pretty obvious that she's blaming someone else so it doesn't make her look like a bad mother for dropping hot tea on her own baby lolz. Then she sees that she could get alot out of suing them so then she thinks about the money instead

It was an accident. If Starbucks did it on purpose then she should sue. The silly woman should just be labelled an unfit mother, because doing that will make about as much sense as this claim :P

Surely if she's that bothered, she'd have asked for a insulating sleeve in the first place?
Especially with a baby around, you just wouldn't take the risk anyway.

Stupid yank.

why even hold it over her son in the first place?

Why did she pick the tea up whilst holding her child if shes concerned about the absence of protective sleeves on cups of tea?

I shall join in :D

Why did she grasp a hot cup of tea in the first place? Does she not have this thing called common sense? I'm going to go pick up the kettle with both hands whilst not using the handle after it has boiled, and do it near my dogs :P

All the times I have been starbucks you the insulation sleeves are served next to the counter so you can get them and put them on yourself, and as for the trays you dont them yourself aswell?

Its her fault

that's obviously her fault for dropping the tea on her baby in the first place??

what sort of mother holds their tea directly over their child anyway, and surely if she'd started to pick it up she'd of realised it was hot before even getting it off the table? :S
