Apparently in some countries, bans longer than 2 years are illegal. Does anyone know about this?

Where does it say that?

Im sure that it isn't true unless you have some evidence to back up what your saying. Im sure when signing up its in their T&C that they can ban you for any reason (or non) for however long they want to.

It was listed in the mod's ban chart which is what they refer to when it comes to the length and reason for bans

But then wouldn't it take longer for them to enforce bans because they would have to check the IP and then location? Unless they have on screen. Im not convinced though!

Well, a permanent ban is just silly :P

What do you mean? I believe I've seen screenshots of a tool where they can check all the user accounts for each IP if that's what you're asking.

No I know they can see people's IPs but that it would take longer to find a location surely? (of what country they are in) Plus Habbo would have to research what countries this is illegal in? You still haven't provided evidence to show that it is illegal to ban people for longer than 2 years.

No, I can instantly find out the country you're in from your IP. I'm sure that Habbo obviously researches and consults lawyers to find it's legality. I'm asking for evidence/if anyone knows what countries it's illegal in.

I am from the UK and i have had perm bans from my Habbo before so if 2 years is illegal then surely perm bans are.

Which is why I'm asking this question.

I doubt that they are illegal in some countries. In reference to your other point surely people could be using proxies so you may never know there true location? I can see you're point.

If its illegal, then I'm sure if you have good reasons to ban them for over 2 years, they should be ok?

Most likely, I doubt that they wouldn't perm ban a pedophile because of the 2 year law (if there is even one!).
