We are looking for around 10-20 beta testers for help in late August to beta test for 2-3 weeks to make sure our site is ready for September.


Now I am sure you are wondering; what is SMStoPayPal?!


SMStoPayPal is a new way to get money in to your PayPal account. People can send SMS text's from their mobile phones, to get 'credits' on our website. With these credits you will be able to exchange them for PayPal money automatically. The website is aimed at people who perhaps do not have a credit or debit card. People, with a little bit of spare money on their phone, which they want to get rid of. People, like you. Well now, with one simple SMS text to our provider, you can get rid of that mobile credit, and get the money in to your PayPal. A simple process, a huge benefit.

We can give you up to two thirds, or even more* of the amount you paid via your mobile phone, in to PayPal money. Why can't we give ALL the money? Sadly network and provider costs mean we lose some of the money straight away.

You text a number, get credits on the site which turn into paypal (pretty much says it in the name), or something along those lines.

He makes money off it by getting 5p from every transaction and through advertisement

Can you elaborate on this? Let say I send a text to you. What exactly do I send in the text? Exactly what will happen if I text you?

I can't release lots of detail but once you text you will get "credits" then it will be around 10p per credit, so say you got £1.50 you would get 15 credits. so as i stated 10p per credit, you can instantly put it directly into your paypal or you can do other things :)
But the phone / sms line is 100% instant so no delays nothing.

Well we have more than just doing direct payments to paypal, plus some people don't have bank accounts ect

Beta users will be emailed on the 21st of July
Beta users will get access to the site mid august (Roughly 22nd of August)
They will Beta and make notes on bugs untill the 21st of September.
Release (If we carry on working our ass's off like now) will be 22nd of September

The difference is our website enables you to use your mobile phone instead of having to use a debit/credit card/bank account. I think that is quite different!

Strangely Fehm it is not a huge money maker :( we take a few pence per transaction, our provider takes around 33% and you get the rest!

P.S. Sorry for poor spelling and grammar - I am on my mobile phone at the moment!

I'm guessing the SMS system is pretty much glitch free then :)

Just out on intrest is it automated converting 'credits' to payal or do users have to wait on an admin?

Yep, we've been working on it for 6 months so ya :)
It automaticly converts to credits then if you wish so you can convert to paypal straight away without a admin's permission unless your obviously wanting to send thousnds or something :P

Maybe you should include live support, this would comfort customers as they can ask questions before using SMS to PayPal.

How is the staffing going to work? I'm guessing the best way would be regionally (ex: 1 in North America, 1 in Europe, 1 in Asia, or something like that)? If so I'm interested if you're hiring.

For now I think you should only bother supporting the country where you're based until there becomes a large enough need for support in other countries.

I feel the need to support other countrys due to the size of them, I mean its all automated its just the traffic i will be dealing with other than that theres nothing else manual in that sense.

Because alot of our custom is other than UK. looking at the chart we have about 30% of our customers from UK (WHICH IS WHERE IM BASED) and the others are at different values although US is 45 which is pretty big. Thus we struggle to make profit otherwise.

I see where you coming from but offering support can be costly for a start up company, personally I wouldn't offer full support to anywhere but the uk, but then again I have no idea on your funding so if you can afford to offer it then go for it :)

Hi Sameer,

We will be choosing our BETA tester's by sending an email out to all applicants and asking some simple questions. We will ask about age etcetera. Don't panic if you are fairly young, as we will be picking out a range of ages so we can get a good idea of what people from different age ranges think!

It's not their responsibility. You agree when you sign up for a paypal account you are over the age of 18. If people use sms2paypal to send money to an account against the T&C then the issue is with the receivers account - not the account sending the money.

There are many loopholes that we have found. Also if PayPal have an issue with it, then I suggest they ban their own users, after all we are only sending money to people who have accounts of PayPal - therefore they must have said their age is over the age limit!
