If it gets banned for breaking the rules, then no it cant be merged

If it gets banned for being a second account (and that's the only reason why it got banned), and has no active infractions, then yes it can be merged.

Just read the announcement, it's hardly rocket science..

no idea why this needed to be done but ok

Because a lot of members have requested it, and it makes sense to allow it to happen over a period of time. After that it won't be allowed because no one should be making duplicate accounts anyway. It's just a nice thing to do :P

I mean through the medium of PM. A lot of people have PM'd myself, Oli, MattGarner and Jin asking for account merges.

Why is it only allowed for 28 days?

Why is it only allowed for 28 days?

As second accounts are forbidden and this is in a way encouraging second accounts.

I don't see why all accounts can't be unbanned unless they attacked Habbox though :S

Because they broke the rules. We're not going to unban people who repeatedly flouted the rules - banning is and was their punishment

Because then everyone would break the rules and then there would be no sort of "punishment" in a way.

No because some people have matured, most people join this site when there 13-14 now they'd be 18+ and matured alot more

Which they can do on new accounts, like many people have been doing and without any issues. If a user keeps breaking the rules, they should expect punishment which can mean losing their original account.

Yeh but if people have matured and learn from their mistakes thats what counts really?

Mature or not, rules are rules. Any thirteen or fourteen year old should be perfectly aware of the rules.

If they are mature enough to olloq rules then surely they are mature enough to swear WITHOUT abbreviations

Olloq should be"follow"

I think this idea is ok, although in a way it seems like members are being rewarded for 'breaking' forum rules in the first place?

Well, not really. If someone uses a second account to break rules then it's noted and they wouldn't get their account merged however a lot of people have used different accounts in the past and come back on new ones.

Although this is why we are doing it for 28 days only, we cannot endorse having second accounts when it is against the rules.

Swearing is hardly an indication of maturity. On the contrary, I'd say it's exactly the opposite :).

This is how it looks to me also - people get banned, make a 2nd account and use that for a while, get the 1st one unbanned and then get to merge them all together (à la Niamh) because the newer ones don't have ban records.
