I know there's a rule against posting 'welcome' or the same message over and over again, but it says nothing about the volume of posts. There should be a limit on how many times someone can post in said amount of time because 'Special' has just gone through and posted in every thread on the first page, filling up the new posts entirely and surely can be classed as pointless posting in some way or another. If i were to make a series of threads, even in spam, i'd most likely be told i'm pointless posting.

I made ten threads across the forum earlier, it's not against the rules. If it's pure spam (like in spam) or by posting the same thing over and over then yeah it's pointless.
However if each reply is personalised there is nothing to stop the person posting as many times as they like and I am not going to stop people posting a certain amount of times.
Pointless threads which clog up new posts are forbidden, but what "Special" has done is nothing against the rules.

only 10? saurav said it was 6 in each section cus the forum was dead lol
I've looked at each thread and there are some that are slightly different to others, but 6 are exactly the same and all of the threads he replied in clearly weren't personal to the user either because of how close they were made to each other - 3 posts within 11:33, 3 within 11:34
these 6 posts are all the same, saying just 'welcome :)'

I'd like to bring your attention to the Report Post button or Report Rule Breaking forum as we already have rules covering this.

This has now been sorted.
I would like to bring the following to everyone's attention:
People take time to write about themselves, so at least give them the courtesy of showing some interest. Because we have had a problem with pointless posting, so try and say something in addition to "Welcome to the forum". Whether it be a nice comment or some friendly advice.
We won't enforce it for a few posts, only if we see that users are constantly replying with "Welcome" many times over again with nothing more added.
This is posted clearly in this (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=578359)thread.
I think whilst it's lovely to welcome members to the forum, and this should be encouraged, posting simple words/phrases into all the threads is just too easy , and I don't think it would be great if everyone did this.
As Oli said, if you use the post report button, these things can be sorted quicker. :P

i know they're there, but i wanted to see if a forum-specific rule would be implemented regarding it

I have spammed that section before to increase my post count ... maybe disable it in there.

I think it appears too strict considering that's the first place new people post and new members often use it to get their post count out of the 5 post captcha limit which I have no issue with.
A member like yourself should know better to be honest although if your posts have some meaning and aren't "welcome to the forum" "welcome" "welcome to habboxforum" "welcome" "welcome" a million times then whether you call it spamming or not, if the posts have a good meaning then it's not - it's just if people post repeatedly with very short meaningless messages which we have an issue with.

I have only done it 3 times in 5 years and when I have, its been proper posts and never similar. Its always personalised depending on what the new user posted. Still, its easily used to increase post count.
Inseriousity.

And did you spam the section with useful, personalised messages designed to welcome the new user in each thread?
If yes then surely that's an incentive to keep the post count abled in that forum. It gives an incentive for members to post in that section (if they actually care about post count, that is) and if the messages are not just 'welcome to hxf, read the rules' then I see no problem with that.

You have summed it up perfectly
Hell I don't care what reason you people messages so long as it's not blatent spam, it could be argued that every post people make in forums where post count is enabled are to get up their post count :P
