View Full Version : Do you think it's easier being a boy or a girl?

Because of what's been said in the gender thread I created, I thought I'd make one concerning whether or not you think it would be easier being a girl, or a boy.
Cons to being a boy (by HotelUser):
- More pressure to be the one making the money to support the family
- You're not as close to your friends, in the sense that it's a rarity to talk about sensitive things, or emotions
- You cannot be yourself/express yourself as much infront of other people, because they'll jump to conclusions!
- It's more difficult for a male to find a lover!
- You have to fear getting into a physical confrontation more
- Suicide rates are a lot higher for males http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate
- You have to worry about looking scrony or weak, and have to worry about being manly, macho
- Can't express a liking to another male (a friendly liking) without having to fear of being classified as gay
- Have a much bigger sex drive, which can get incredibly annoying especially when it's not satisfied
- If being a boy is easier why do so many boys want to be girls?!
- Boys DONT have breasts or a vagina. I see boys in the other thread (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=655111) saying they'd like to be a girl for those reasons; but I don't see girls wanting to be a guy to have male body parts!
Cons to being a girl (by RNB.Queen):
-Period pains
-Mood swings
-Child birth
-The need to look good and stay skinny
-Pressure from guys - in terms of look (skinny, big breasts, curvy, tall) and sex
-Being considered as a '****' if you have more male friends than female
-Pressure to be the one looking after the family and all domestic things
-Depression is more commom with women than with men
-Being judged based on the way you dress rather than your personality

Being a guy seems a lot easier, child birth, period pains and getting into argument with other girls a lot seem to be the main cons behind being a girl. I have to disagree with pretty much all the cons you came up with for being a guy though, none of them bother me in the slightest.
Cons to being a boy (by HotelUser):
- More pressure to be the one making the money to support the family - Not often the case these days for a modern family, that's quite traditional thinking much like how women have to do domestic things.
- You're not as close to your friends, in the sense that it's a rarity to talk about sensitive things, or emotions - Bit of a stereotype, I think most guys open up to one or two people they're just more secretive about it
- You cannot be yourself/express yourself as much infront of other people, because they'll jump to conclusions! - Not sure what this means? Just be yourself
- It's more difficult for a male to find a lover! - Surely guys/girls find lovers just as easily as one another, it takes two to tango
- You have to fear getting into a physical confrontation more - Don't be a **** or hang out with dodgy people and it shouldnt be an issue. If I get beaten up by someone who's much bigger or stronger than me, my reputation isn't really going to take a beating as it's expected.
- Suicide rates are a lot higher for males http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate - Didn't realise that
- You have to worry about looking scrony or weak, and have to worry about being manly, macho - Quite a traditional thought once again
- Can't express a liking to another male (a friendly liking) without having to fear of being classified as gay - You can easily express appreciation for a good mate without sounding gay or even having to say "I like you" lol.
- Have a much bigger sex drive, which can get incredibly annoying especially when it's not satisfied - Don't see the problem with this?
- If being a boy is easier why do so many boys want to be girls?! - Once again wasn't aware of this, very very few people wish to changer gender regardless of this
- Boys DONT have breasts or a vagina. I see boys in the other thread (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=655111) saying they'd like to be a girl for those reasons; but I don't see girls wanting to be a guy to have male body parts! - True but they only like breasts or vaginas cause they're a heterosexual guyI'm not even camp/gay in real life, I just find those things don't worry me and I'm quite modern thinking but that might just be me.

Cons to being a boy (by HotelUser):
- More pressure to be the one making the money to support the family - Not really
- You're not as close to your friends, in the sense that it's a rarity to talk about sensitive things, or emotions - Hmm this is true mostly but is this really a con? If you want to express feelings, you can easily find a girl friend to talk with
- You cannot be yourself/express yourself as much infront of other people, because they'll jump to conclusions! - Sounds like paranoia to me? I don't really think it matters
- It's more difficult for a male to find a lover! - omg yes, some girls seem to take the traditional route where the boy has to ask the girl out, my ex-girlfriend did anyway.
- You have to fear getting into a physical confrontation more - yeah but I'd say verbal fights were harder and that's more a girl thing
- Suicide rates are a lot higher for males - can't really trust statistics so I'd be wary of this. However, if it were true, there'd be more issues than gender that would contribute.
- You have to worry about looking scrony or weak, and have to worry about being manly, macho - You don't have to worry. Be happy with who you are.
- Can't express a liking to another male (a friendly liking) without having to fear of being classified as gay - lol wut?
- Have a much bigger sex drive, which can get incredibly annoying especially when it's not satisfied - LOLOL, some girls can be right sexy devils too.
- If being a boy is easier why do so many boys want to be girls?! - err what?
- Boys DONT have breasts or a vagina. I see boys in the other thread (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=655111) saying they'd like to be a girl for those reasons; but I don't see girls wanting to be a guy to have male body parts! - yes, give a boy periods and im sure theyd want to go back to their own body in no time! Also, girls might not express this as its not very 'ladylike'. I know most girls would openly admit they like watching lesbians but only a few girls would admit that they like watching gay (and I do know a few girls who like it).
I'm a boy and I would much rather stay that way because I do not like the idea of childbirth and periods. I'd much rather have an embarrassing erection in awkward places than dreading the cycle!

A con for the boy should be the lower life expectancy aswell imo :P
Anyway I'd say generally it would be easier to be a girl but when it came to deeper, more emotional relationships and families a boy would be my choice because the woman would give birth, I'd say the woman is more likely to stay home and look after the child after the given maternity leave (as in they would leave their job, which is true as alot of ladies quit their job when they have child #1). The only thing I wouldn't wanna really be a girl for is periods, so overall I wanna be what I am now, a boy. Plus if you do lots of girls as a boy youre considered legendary but if a girl does loads of lads shes a ****.

Males don't have a bigger sex drive at all, they're just generally more open about it because girls are taught not to be.
-Mood swings
-The need to look good and stay skinny
-Pressure from guys - in terms of look (skinny, big breasts, curvy, tall) and sex
-Being considered as a '****' if you have more male friends than female
-Being judged based on the way you dress rather than your personality
These things are all applicable to males too, although obviously the actual components of the "looks" category are different and instead of being a ho for who your friends are you're made out to be gay or a player if you have mainly female friends :P
In this society it'd be a lot easier to be female because you get stuff given to/done for you just for being one. Look at how all the virgins on this forum act around girls who they don't even know the appearance of for proof of this.

Too true.
Not often the case these days for a modern family, that's quite traditional thinking much like how women have to do domestic things.
Hmm...then what causes the suicide rates in males to be so high?
Bit of a stereotype, I think most guys open up to one or two people they're just more secretive about it
It's not a stereotype at all. Girls are generally more close to their friends than guys.
Not sure what this means? Just be yourself
Unfortunately, and again in a general way, this isn't always that easy.
Don't be a **** or hang out with dodgy people and it shouldnt be an issue. If I get beaten up by someone who's much bigger or stronger than me, my reputation isn't really going to take a beating as it's expected.
It's not about who you hang out with or your reputation. Physical confrontations are still more likely between two males than two females.
Didn't realise that
I want to know why it is, myself.
Quite a traditional thought once again
Traditional, but true. Girls striving to look pretty, is a traditional thought.
You can easily express appreciation for a good mate without sounding gay or even having to say "I like you" lol.
Girls call eachother pretty, have girls in their avatars and signatures on forums, posters of girls in their rooms. If a boy called a boy handsome, had a poster of a boy up in his room people would straight away think he was gay.
Don't see the problem with this?
It's a personal thing, I suppose, so different people will have different opinions on it.
Once again wasn't aware of this, very very few people wish to changer gender regardless of this
Few do, but more boys wish to be girls.
Not really
Again, suicide statistics.
Hmm this is true mostly but is this really a con? If you want to express feelings, you can easily find a girl friend to talk with
Yes but you can't find another guy to talk with.
yeah but I'd say verbal fights were harder and that's more a girl thing
I'd rather have a nasty verbal fight then to get the stuffing beaten out of me.
LOLOL, some girls can be right sexy devils too.
Yes but from a general outlook nowhere near as much as guys do, hence the existence of pornography.

For example I don't think we can attribute a higher suicide rate among males because in traditional families males are expected to be the breadwinner. You could call other guys handsome and plus there's nothing wrong with sounding a little gay, it doesn't mean that you are. If you go over the top with it, you risk coming across as gay and then girls won't be interested in you but it's not black and white. You can compliment other guys on how they look, "I like the hairstyle" or "Nice shirt" or something. And I don't think it's the case that guys won't listen to you, in a strong friendship you should have no trouble with "opening up a bit".

You're right one experience which you don't have to do if you don't want to is worse than an entire lifetime of being worse off

- they normally earn more than woman for the same job anyway so hush
- um find better friends then. i only talk to MALE friends about sensitive topics
- gay
- that's because we're hotter
- yeah but most guys forgive and forget, with girls they ***** for months on end over nothing. you won't get beat up if you're not a *****
- so lol doesn't mean they're commiting suicide over being male.
- manly men are fine if you want to feel safe for like a 2 month relationship and if you feel insecure, otherwise give me a skinny (mm) coward any day! not want him to suddenly turn on me:S
- gay
- boys can have sex whenever and with whoever and they're heros, girls have sex with 2 different people and they're ****.
- because they're gay and want to be straight
- invalid, that's because penis' are ugly, not that vaginas are better but i suppose boobs are alright.
-Period pains
-Mood swings
-Child birth
-The need to look good and stay skinny
-Pressure from guys - in terms of look (skinny, big breasts, curvy, tall) and sex

-Being judged based on the way you dress rather than your personality
- oh no a few days of pain (i can't get out my bed or sleep on the first day, it's actually so sore that i cry and sometimes throw up ¬.¬), so what? at least you know your body is working fine and you can have babies. plus gives me the excuse to stay in bed eating chocolate n ice cream
- ok so what girls are moody anyway
- prob gotta be one of the best experiences in life:S
- guys should follow that rule too i aint ******* no fatty
- lol so what most girls can get laid anyway, every1 knows the fatties are gagging for it.
- yeah true but why's that a bad thing? you're seen as gay if you have more female than male friends. deal with it. most my friends are male and i've not slept with any of them lol...
- just get a rich hubby to get you your own maid, problem solved god
- don't really care about depressed people go away
- girls dress to impress girls. guys don't care unless your boobs/bum/legs are on show (don't try this unless you're fit)
It's so typical for guys to say that labour isn't that bad!
yeah labours so bad people still go through it again & again..
and it's worth it
girs have more advantages they're just too grumpy/depressed/pmsing to realize.

If I told anyone at all that, "Orlando Bloom is handsome," the very first thing they would do would be to jump to a wrong conclusion.
I'm actually not sure about why we have a higher suicide rate, it's probably a number of things.
Strong friendship or not between two boys or not, you're still rarely going to be able to replicate a similar communication structure as that of a friendship between two females
It's so typical for guys to say that labour isn't that bad!
And how would you know :O
I do agree with you. That is not a fun aspect of being a female, though I suppose it's their own fault for being pregnant in the firstplace (with a little help--of course :P)
