A thanks to Robbie for pointing this out to me;

POTTY Brussels pen-pushers handed more than £160,000 to a dance group who perform "spectacular BELCHING" and "smelly foot" jigs.
The taxpayers' cash was given to the London-based Flying Gorillas troupe who use "rhythm, music and GIBBERISH" to "explore friendship and tolerance".Another £166,849 went to help a German street theatre group build a "large dragon which can breathe fire and small smoking volcanoes on wheels". And a staggering £400million was paid out in grants to projects around the world about which no details have been released because they are described as "CONFIDENTIAL".
A damning new report from campaign group Open Europe shows how - despite the recession - Brussels is wasting a fortune on crazy projects. Open Europe spokesman Stephen Booth said: "Funding these projects would be pretty ridiculous at the best of times, but when the Government is talking about massive cuts, the EU's spending looks truly outrageous. "How can the EU demand more cash when it's throwing £400million of taxpayers' money down a black hole?" Nearly £147,000 has been spent on creating 736 postcards - one for each MEP in the European Parliament. Each cost the taxpayer an eye-watering £200.
Some of the "confidential" cash was earmarked for schemes in Afghanistan, where there are genuine security concerns. But £79.6million went to a South African aid project, with another £65.9million for a neighourhood project in Moldova. And £6.4million for "financial co-operation" among Mediterranean countries was paid to an unnamed body in Switzerland.The Sun newspaper yes, but Open Europe seem to have commented on the story and do a lot of research on EU matters - at a time when we are having to tighten our belts and our country is in debt, we are paying for this utter rubbish. It is important we know where our money is being wasted, because at the end of the day our mainstream politicians will not tell us. An small but interesting fact with monetary issues concerning the EU some of you may be interested with; the EU President (supposed to be the figurehead of the whole European project) Herman Van Rompuy is paid more than President Obama - his 'palace' will cost £252 million (http://www.ukip.org/content/latest-news/1386-eu-president-paid-more-than-obama).
Thoughts, should the EU be tightening its belt like governments & families around Europe are?
