If you own it or have a mortgage (or if your parents do). Not really applicable if you rent.

I don't live in a house nor own my apartment, but my parents house (where I used to live) was valued a year or two ago at £500,000.

Well my neighbours house sold for £550k a few years ago and my parents house is bigger than theirs and is about to have an extension and conservatory added to it and there's no mortgage on it.

i can see the appeal of having a house in a good area but a big house seems way too much work. more to clean, gotta buy stuff to fill the house etc.

I'll tell the truth.

Probably about 130k.

Somehow, i'm thinking that some people in this thread actually have no idea how much their house is worth.

Mine is probably about £300k.

Kinda £300,000 mark I think. In a decent area, surrey, outskirts of London. Nothing speacial as a house, but personally it's a high value.

I have a general idea, and fortunately real estate in Canada (well--where I am atleast) seems to be cheaper than in the UK :)

it's possible their houses are worth that much but i'm betting it wasn't to begin with, whether they had an extension or not.
i'm not gonna lie, it's worth about £130k. we have everything we need, why would i want anymore:S

Axel
12-07-2010, 03:34 PM
£150k, cos my Mum doesn't work at all and depends on my step dad.

On the other hand, my Dad, who I choose not to live with, has a 250k house, which is fairly decent.

Yeh you're allowed to post pictures as long as you do not include personal details such as postcode, house number etc

mines is only worth 105k though it's three bedroomed & it has two gardens, one which is considered 'large'(i think).

might be the area that brings it down.

i dont think they're lying, I just would like to look at - roughly - how much the prices are for the properties. We've been looking at houses up to 200k to buy and I know with that price target what house we would get, whether a really big house in a rough area/main road or a detached 3 bedroom house with garage and garden on a nice estate (smaller rooms though)

alexxxxx
12-07-2010, 08:52 PM
it really depends where you live. the south east has incredibly expensive houses whilst in the east midlands its not too expensive and the north east its cheap cheap.

the average house price is 244k and people are coming out with 400k/500k/1billion.

anyway, idc, well done if you have a nice house. our house does it's job.

Ill take apicture of mine some time if you want, the area of my house helps it's value, if it was elsewhere in a different are would only be 550-600k, Ill post one soon :)

i dont think the town I live in has a house over £250k.

there's two posh estates but nothing major.
