Its really up to you if you get vbulletin or IPB. Personally I think its better to get a IPB as (you may not think this) it is cheaper and more powerful.

1)Licences
2)Why do I have to pay I just seen one for free on this website?
3):o I think that board is illegal!
4)Installing your board
5)Getting support

1) Licences

There are 2 types of licences the Perpetual License witch costs $185.00 and the One Year License witch costs $69.95. Ill tell you more about them later on. If you dont have a lot of money to spend I recomend you get the One Year Licence. But if you are planning to run a board where you have a lot on money to spend and want to be able to have your problems fix quickly I recomend you get the Perpetual Licence.

Perpetual Licence - $185.00

This licence gives you access to a IPB and support and updates for the lifetime of you useing IPB. I recomend this to users with a lot of money to spend and plan to run there forum for over 2 years.

One Year Licence - $69.95

This licence give you updates and support for IPB. After a year you can continue to run your IPB but without any support or updates. I recomend this to someone with not a lot of money to spend on there website.

2)Why do I have to pay I just seen one for free on this website?

IPB Is not free software. If you try and run a 'fake' IPB and someone reports you then IPS will contact your host and the forum will be removed. In the worst case IPS will contact you host and your hosting will be shut down without and refund and you are taken to court. If you find a site offering the software for free please report it here: http://www.invisionpower.com/piracytracker/piracy.php

3):o I think that board is illegal!

If you added ipsreport=1 to the end of a board it will give you a code. No one apart from IPS staff can tell by looking at the code if it is illegal or not!

Quote from Alex (IPS staff)

As we have said time and time again - there is no one outside of IPS Staff that can tell if the numbers that should be returned by that function are legitimate or not - so really would not be a huge point in dong this am afraid.

If you think a board it illegal please report it here: http://www.invisionpower.com/piracytracker/piracy.php

4)Installing your board

The best way to get your board installed is by submiting a support ticket asking for it to be installed. You can submit a support ticket by logging into your client area by visting:

http://customer.invisionpower.com/client.cgi

If you want to install it your self run the install file in /install.

5) Getting support

You can get support on IPS's own forums (To post in customer forums you will need to put in your forum ID number in the client area): http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php

Or you can go to to find resoureces for IPB:
http://www.invisionboard.com/?resources

Or you can login to your client area and submit a support ticket or have a Live Chat with IPS staff:

http://customer.invisionpower.com/client.cgi

I plan to update when I get more time :)

Thanks,

Tomdarkness
