When you can't sleep what do you do to help?

Well normally I just stay awake all night, then feel rubbish the next day. xD

I think having a nice relaxing, calming bath before bed helps, and also not looking at tv/computer screens directly before bed, as they keep your mind active.

I also find that getting too hot/cold doesnt help, so change the duvet accordingly. Sometimes even flipping my pillow over to the cool side works xD

i wiggle my toes in bed that sends me off, or put a really boring program on tele, or go sleep on the sofa, or when im in bed i close my eyes & think of a white room & think of nothing else

or if all else fails stay up

HxHD and then 10 minutes later, I'm asleep.

I usually go get something to eat and then I can easily get to sleep. :)

Well I have trouble sleeping sometimes, and then someone makes me stay on msn because they want to talk, e.g orangeesh. Anyhow, try keeping occupied until you are tired. Then just lay back on your pillow and you will fall asleep soon enough. Like Martin said I usually flip my pillow over. Tends to work.

If I can't sleep, I read a book and eventually I feel relaxed enough to drop off.

Inseriousity.

I love reading! I don't have a good book to sink my teeth into at the moment though.

Looks like a trip to the library could be in order then. :D

I've always read before I go to sleep, just winds you down after the day :) Currently reading Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck!

Yeah, I'd just chill for about 30mins - 45mins before bed with a new relaxing bath prior to that!

Don't eat within 2 hours before sleep, don't exercise, chill out, no caffeine, don't drink too much.

All should help you sleep better!

I tend not to do that stuff, anyway. It's the mind! I can't stop thinking about something long enough to sleep.

I beg to differ. If I go eat something and get a Milo or a drink like that (no caffeine) I'll doze off right to sleep.

Apparently hot milk helps you sleep. The warmth and the tryptophan released both make you relaxed :)

Funny you should say this. I find it a lot easier to get to sleep when there is people talking in the background and you drift in and out of sleep. I also find it really relaxing when there is rain hitting the window and I'm all tucked up :P

I'm actually trying to find somewhere where I can download sound clips of rain / people talking / wind / etc to put the on MP3. Will help when trying to get to sleep on flights.. :)

I read a few chapters of a book. It usually relaxes me enough until I get bored of it and start to feel tired.

Read a book/magazine or put a film on with the volume on low.
