What does "troll" mean?

I've always wondered this, as apparently there's so many explanations to the word. Some HxHD staff say "stop trolling" or "why are you being a troll" and I don't think they know what it means. If someone could tell me, I'd be rather happy. Then they could read this thread and know what it means too other than guessing and warning them for it.

Trolling is the act of purposely causing other people to lose their temper over the internet.
