Anybody else heard the rumours for CoD to become subscription based?

I think i might be moving over to MoH if they make Black Ops sub-based because i'm not forking out 50quid for a game then paying money per month for it.

Thoughts?

Well i thought it was only a matter of time before this sort of thing would happen,

1. Its not activision blizzard.
2. The test (imo) was the 1200MSP map packs, to see how far we are willing to go

I cant see it happening. Yeah the cod addicts would do it but most people would find another game like moh. I dont think it would happen anyway.

As far as I've looked into it, it won't be £50 a month. It'll be more like £2 - £10 charge every month.

No fee.

Modern Warfare 2 subscription plan rumors going around. For the record, nobody has to pay to play COD or MW2 multiplayer, nor will they.

He knows nothing. In his own words, Activision control the business decisions and all of that general mockery of helping the game industry.

No, you will not have to 'Pay to Play' #CODBlackOps (http://twitter.com/search?q=%23CODBlackOps) Multiplayer either. Rumor -> Squashed.

People are taking this all out of hand, the subscription was originally planned for the action adventure COD game that some third developer is making, I think Paul talked about it on one of the episodes of his podcast. There's next to no point in charging to play MW2 or Black Ops, because I personally think they'd lose a huge percentage of their fanbase

Okay, here goes.

You will not have to Pay to Play MW2 Multiplayer, it was confirmed by Robert Bowling, the Infinity Ward Community Manager - http://www.twitter.com/fourzerotwo

You will not have to Pay to Play Black Ops Multiplayer, it was confirmed by Josh Olin, the TreyArch Community Manager - http://www.twitter.com/jd_2020

As for the action-adventure CoD game that is being made by Sledgehammer Games, you most likely will have to Pay to Play that.

Kotick said it (http://www.next-gen.biz/news/kotick-would-like-a-call-of-duty-%E2%80%9Csubscription-service-tomorrow%E2%80%9D) himself he wants one.

It's going to happen.

I'm an idiot for knowing the inevitable? I bet even he knows that a future COD will have subscription based multiplayer.

I don't understand that guy, I'm pretty sure we're not all 'clamouring' to pay monthly, specially when our money wouldn't go towards us getting what we wanted, i.e dedicated servers, a reliable support team etc etc

I will say this in support of Kotick: Game costs (servers, development time, just in general) are rising. I don't think a sub based MP would fix it.

Not sure.
