Same, I hate that they think they're hard but most of them actually wouldn't touch a fly! The clothing is awful it's just everyone trying to follow a trend as they think if they dress like that then people will think there hard and people will be scared of them.

What is 'chav' clothing to be exact?

What is 'chav' clothing to be exact?White tracksuits, flat-peak hats, hoodies and sometimes burberry. Usually trainers and brands such as Nike & Adidas. It's all stereotyping of course, there's no real way to define it.

The fact is, most chavs actually would hurt you. Generally in groups but yeah..
I have the misfortune of knowing plenty of chavs due to being quite sociable with people over the years :L

As opposed to the oh-so-original indie kids with the same Topman/H&M outfits, I suppose? Of course they wear it because their friends do, because obviously friends are going to have some fairly similar mindsets and therefore think the same things look good. Whatever anyone's reason for wearing a certain style, in the end it comes down to the fact that they want to wear it.
There are some brands that are ok like Bench, but the fact chavs wear them (Well, the higher class chavs) puts me off it =[
I think the reason friends dress like their friends is because they usually shop with each other in the same shops. Me on the other hand has everything paid for by my mum so I shop in different shops to my friends =]

People who dress in "chav" clothing look rough, especially when they are 20+. You just know they are fresh from a council estate. I hate the idea of being put into a category like emo or scally/chav. I'd rather just be myself. One day you might see me with some armani jeans and a blue/yellow adidas hoody, the next you might see me with some shorts I thought looked good from george and a random t-shirt like lacoste or henleys or something. It ain't all about brands and prices if it looks good buy it. The only things I ever make sure are a decent make are my shoes because if you go cheap they wear out really quick or fall apart.

The image 90% of this forum has on people who wear different clothing is horrendous, just because somebody wears different clothes doesn't mean he/she's a better or worse person than yourself.
To be honest, most of you who are saying "chavs" only wear tracksuits because their friends do are talking absolute rubbish, i suppose your group of friends don't wear similar clothing? Or the local indie kids wear the same load of clothes from their local topman?
Anyway, i wear tracksuits and sportswear - adidas, nike, airmax, lacoste tracksuits, fred perry etc..
Scallz, it seems like you only wear trackies etc, because you want to be a popular kid or whatever in school, you will realise your error when you leave i bet. :P

Sorry dude, I am better than a chav and I know it. Chavs look stupid. You get the pikey ones who love their trackies like a child, or the 'posh' ones that try and pull of wearing all these designer clothes. **** me they all look pathetic.

Y'all know what I think of most of your fashion disasters though init and while I do claim to be better than pretty much everyone it's not usually to do with what they fancy wearing. Nah I'm kidding I judge everyone and everything by what they look like but that's just because I'm me, mere mortals shouldn't be doing such things, especially if they're prone to questionable habits regarding their own attire.

And this guy who started of the thread seems to think dressing as a chav will make him cool or something. Nothing says cool like looking like someone who's about to mug you.

LOL. Emo ****. Nice way to label yourself as an idiot there.
Its called being DIFFERENT, standing out from normality
Also 'Emo', i wear bright colours AND black, yet im not an 'emo' infact, im nothing. Im just me.
It makes no difference what people dress like, being different is good. Even if people do look/dress the same as other people, Let them, its not affecting you.
Although, not ALL people who wear 'chav' clothes are bad and aggresive, just a few people who stick a label to that clothes preference.

Everything after the bolded bit is void because you wrote that statement. No one is different, you wear clothes that someone else wears, you don't have your own unique look unless you make 100% of your own clothes.

Your better than a chav? LOL@YOU for being so mis-informed, just because somebody wears tracksuits doesn't mean they're less better than you, are you un-educated or something?
Chav is more of a personality not just a clothing style, were im from its the normal thing to wear tracksuits etc.
To label everybody who wears tracksuits as anti-social and threatening is absolutely idiotic, just as is labelling "emo" kids sad acts who cut themselves.
Stop thinking than your better than other people, just because of the way you dress - because to be honest "chav" clothing costs a hell of a lot more than your jeans or whatever.

I'm not thinking I'm better than other people. I just know I'm better then a filthy mouthed chav who has no respect for the people outside his/her little group of like minded friends.
It's my opinion that tracksuits look stupid, and seeing as 75% of people that wear tracksuits are chavs, it must therefore mean chavs look stupid. I also laugh how you suggest I'm un-educated when chavs can barely speak english properly.
I also apologise for calling you a dude, dude.

Your saying all this asif it is fact, it is not, it is a very narrow minded opinion of yours.
Just because people wear tracksuits does not mean they are foul mouthed, look stupid or show no respect for anybody outside of their group of friends. Chav is more of a personality, more than a clothing style yes? What about the people who wear tracksuits but help the community or something? What if somebody in a tracksuit helped your mother when she was getting mugged?
Your opinions are ridiculously narrow minded, as are most of this forums on the subject of other clothing styles. It amazes me that none of you can talk about "chavs" or "emos" or whatever without getting defensive saying that you are superior to them just because you don't wear airmax trainers or the latest lacoste tracksuit.
LOL@your pathetic sarcastic comment.

Well too start my mother suffered a very serious brain tumour 15 years ago so she doesn't really go out for fear of an epileptic fit or something of the same, so a tracksuitted person won't save my mother from being mugged.
The fact of the matter is, this is my opinion. I don't associate myself with people wearing tracksuits, chavs or not, because they don't look good on anyone and they're just ugly.
You're just mad because you're clearly one of these tracksuit wearing chavs. Chill out dude, stop trying to start an internet fight

Not really, because yeah, your obviously going to be wearing some articles of clothing that someone else is, But its rarer to see someone wearing the same clothes; whereas if your wearing 'chav' clothes, theres a LOT more people
Can someone do me a favour and post me a picture of what YOU think what clothes modern day "chavs" wears? I'm just wondering from different perspectives.

Personally I never thought that wearing some nice jeans and a t-shirt put you into the chav category. Especially when we are talking pretty expensive jeans and t-shirts. Henleys jeans are around £40/£50 and a Lacoste t-shirt can be around £60, your typical chav does not wear clothes like these.

I don't like the word chav but I'm not afraid to say it.
Ive never relaly known what defines a chav, because ive only ever seen one guy in all tracksuit acting like an idiot. I have seen ppl wearin all tracksuits n whatnot, but that doesnt really make them bad people like people usually associate chavs with. I think of it a style choice, meh.

Sometimes I wear tracksuits and it doesn't fool anyone, nobody thinks for one second I'm a chav, so I don't think clothing really has much to do with being a chav.
I don't even think there is such thing as a chav, because I've never even met one
