After months of development, Teenuz is finally ready for public release. You may remember I initially launched it back in May but following a lot of negative feedback, I quickly took the site down and started from scratch all over again. After going through about 7 layouts and constant fine tweaking, it's ready for it's proper launch.

But what is Teenuz?

Teenuz is a new twist on an old idea. It's a news website, aimed at teenagers. Yet instead of us hiring a team of reporters to create content, our users can write articles, open discussions and reviews on a wide range of topics that are of interest to teenagers. From music to gaming, to sports and beyond, we're sure we can cater for a wide variety of tastes and interests.

But that's not all. When our users create new content, they are rewarded with Teenuz Tokens. Once they have earnt enough, they can redeem them for amazing gifts such as vouchers, games, movies, music and more.

Aside from all that, Teenuz also offers competitions with fantastic prizes, challenging events and lots more!

Teenuz will be launching on Friday 23rd July. It will be opening at one of the following times, depending on how our pre-launch preparation goes:

5:00pm GMT
7:00pm GMT
9:00pm GMT

(Updates will be posted on the site closer to the time)

So, we hope you will join us when we launch. We've got lots planned and can't wait to share it with you!

Same question as above, is it coming straight out of your pocket?
I'd imagine your going to end up giving alot of games and movies away if you get alot of users.

We're aiming to fund part of it through advertising. We're setting up a unique advertisement plan where those wishing to advertise with us can either pay towards the funding for the rewards, in return for adverts on the site. Or they can supply the rewards themselves. It's still all very early so I apologise for the half-decent answer.

Okay, please report it in the Feedback section. It was reported before but we need to see how many people it's affecting. We'll be fixing it over the weekend.

I've just tested the site on Safari, Firefox, Opera and Chrome across 2 computers (PC + Mac). The only one causing problems was Opera.. so if you have any other browsers i'd probably use that for the meantime.

I think you should reduce the amount of topics, a user should never have to scroll though a navigation bar. Why have things like sports and celebrities right at the end? Surely they'll among the most popular categories and should be moved to the beginning of the nav?
Things like gadgets and internet can be put under the technology topic for now, they can always be moved if they get popular.
If you have fewer topics, then the site won't look as empty when people select the individual topics.

I also don't like that you're using iframes. I like middle-clicking links on sites so I can open up pages in new tabs, ready for when I've finished reading the current page. With iframes, it just opens up the separate content page (http://www.teenuz.com/competitions/)

Oh, and the 'get started page'. Lost and confused? Here, turn your head awkwardly to the side and struggle to read these links. Not very user friendly. I think you should improve that and add a 'back' link onto the pages linked to from the 'get started page', to make it a bit more obvious how to get back to it.

Sorry if this comes across as too harsh, I just know that if it was the other way around, I would prefer to be told how my site needs improving :)
The design is nice and I like the idea of the site. It has a good chance of taking off if you can fix the issues and promote it well enough :)

Okay, thank you for the advice. Highly appreciated!

I'll look into everything you think I should change and you should hopefully see most of it done by tomorrow. As for the iFrames, i've already received a lot of feedback about people having problems with it. That's something we'll be working on over the weekend :)

A really good improvement over the last design, only change I would make would be to replace the ShareThis with a Retweet button: http://tweetmeme.com/about/retweet_button - I tried ShareThis for ages on a blog but it wasn't really driving any traffic back. Just a suggestion anyway.

Good luck with the new version!
