I'll let the link do most of the talking, but the big news is that Nickelodeon just approved the creation of a brand new TV series that continues with the time line of "The Last Airbender" history, being 70 years into the future.
http://tv.ign.com/articles/110/1107556p1.html
If you're too lazy to read the article (which isn't very long, mind you), I'll quickly explain the main idea of what's planned to be in the show. The story follows a Southern Water Tribe girl, Korra, who happens to be the next Avatar. She has already mastered three of the four elements, and now has to learn Airbending. So, she goes under the direction of Aang's son, Tenzin, to finish her training, but also finds obstacles in her travels to and in Republic City, a huge metropolis that is the center of the Avatar world culture. That is all that is announced for now, but I'm sure they have a really good plot waiting to be developed!
And plus, this will be made by the original two creators of the TV show, so you don't have to worry about Shyamalan ruining it!
So... thoughts? Questions? Concerns? Predictions? Tell me what you think!!

Never saw it, too old, don't care. Don't intend on seeing the live-action flick either.

There's an Avatar thread over in the Anime forum, you can find it here: http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=586606
It's mainly concerned with the new movie, but I'm sure if you post your findings there it'll go down well too, everyone's right into The Last Airbender over there. :)
Never saw it, too old, don't care.
What's the point in needless hostility? Telling him that you don't care is contributing nothing to the thread and hardly welcoming him to the forum. Get over yourself.
Sounds like it'll be pretty decent.
But dont get me started on the movie. ughhhhhhhhh

It's contributing to the thread my opinion that I do not ever care to see it. There is no hostility towards him, only the programme.

And why so much hostility towards it?

What do you mean 'too old'?
And if you don't care, why bother posting? I'd understand if you had seen it before and didn't like it, but saying you don't care isn't contributing anything, as has already been stated.
And this new series looks pretty cool. Not sure it'll be as good as the original series, but sounds like a good fix.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I've been on the internet long enough to know not to get insulted by dumb things like that. Anyway, it doesn't really sound like he was trying to insult me, it's not a huge deal.
I didn't think to look in the Anime section for some reason haha xD... if a mod could move/delete this, it would probably organize things a little better.

Because this is a forum and I'm a film and TV journalist, so it's pretty fitting that I can voice my opinion in any way, shape or form...
I'm 20, I am not the intended audience.
And I show hostility towards it because I think it looks awful - not being a fan. If you're a fan and you care, that's great, but I'm not and I have said so... I have no "hostility" towards anyone who likes it.

If you voiced your opinion, you'd say you didn't like it, not didn't care. If you were on a forum, which you are, then you'd say WHY you didnt like it to provoke a discussion and then we wouldn't rip at you for not backing up what you say.
Also ,you aren't the intended audience, but i know people your age and older who have seen it, not good enough reason tbh.
And because it looks 'awful' ? Elaborate. Considering you're a TV And Film Journalist as you say so much, you should be able to look past the look of something, since generally one evaulating a movie or film takes into consideration the story much higher than how it looks

The fact that I don't care is an opinion...
I don't care to see it because it is exactly the kind of show which I do not like.

As a TV journalist, this show is something probably worth looking into. Sure, the movie was one of the worst things I have ever laid my eyes on, but the TV show is a completely different story. Of course it has younger humor and it is technically geared to a younger crowd, but that doesn't necessarily mean that an older person could not watch it; I'm 18 years old and I think it's better than any show I have watched on prime-time TV.
A critic of any art medium should know to look beyond the face value of anything he or she is critiquing. The Last Airbender has incredible character development, a very complex backstory and history, authentic mythological and Asian religious references, and many archetypal themes and motifs that makes it much more than just a cartoon.
Usually having a more open mind is beneficial.

empasm, couldn't have said it better myself. Also, thank god you acknowledge that the movie was the worst thing, ever.
Adam, you should've said "I have no interest in seeing it, happy for those who do." really instead of "I don't care.", it is quite hostile.

I'm going to join this bandwagon
I'm a games journalist and this isn't apparently the sort of thing I'm 'allowed' to talk about.
I actually really like The Last Airbender, since it's one of the few 'clever' cartoons on the television today. Reminds me of the toons I watched when I was young, maybe even a hint of Samurai Jack in there too.

Okay, admittedly I was blunt.
I have a VERY open mind.
I generally do not like Asian cartoons for one, especially those deep rooted in fantasy.

You'd be surprised how broad that Asian cartoons can get.

Too bad it's an AMERICAN cartoon then, huh?
So you're hostile towards a program you know absolutely nothing about. Brilliant. What a brilliant critic you are.

I was referring to the cartoons set in Asia with a distint anime stlyle.
You're right, I don't know anything about it because I don't care to know anything about it...
I don't want to see a cartoon - obviously I'm a bad critic...
Not only have I reviewed cartoons before, I've had the film-makers behind them commend me for my writing.

Wait wait wait. What? You don't wanna watch something you care about, partly because it's a cartoon, yet you've still reviewed cartoons. So basically you're just contradicting yourself.
And you call yourself open minded, yet you say "I dont know anything about it because i dont care to know anything about it", that's about as close minded as you can get im afraid. I'd suggest atleast stop contradicting yourself and atleast be open minded if you wanna actually get into that line of work.

Get in? I'm a professional film and TV critic. I got in a year ago...
I'm not contradicting myself: I have an open mind - I don't know the specifics of the content of the show - I know the style, animation and theme, which are three things that I do not like. I'm not a particular fan of cartoons, either. Also, I've reviewed cartoons because I have to. I get sent films and TV shows to review from PR before they're out and write about them, hence established film and TV critic writing for a 150K+ audience.

You're both quite mean in your accusations. Adam is obviously ignorant to the realm of what separate asian and American cartoon, even I made the mistake when first watching it.
Why so serious?

Well you are contradicting yourself, as i showed earlier. And if you're a fan of them or not, doesn't change the fact that you're a critic, and as such, you should be able to know the specifics of things you don't particularly like for the benefit of your job.

Dont appreciate people bein' hostile for no reason.

But he admitted he "was TOO blunt." and then he said "No interest in Asian cartoons."
So what?
Hostile is such a loose word.

That was later on in the thread, dont really know what we're arguing about now but i must continue!

As a critic you expect me to know the insides of every single television show in existence? ... Feel free to continue to knock my journalism, but I've had 130 published reviews in the last seven months to show that I know what I'm doing.
I'm not contradicting myself, you just appear not to be able to understand.

1) And you call yourself a writer (what I've highlighted in bold)
2) I think the argument is that you're not open enough to Asian cartoons, which you admitted but quite bluntly, and I just don't see how that would provoke anything.

Holy **** guys, please. There's really no need for this.
-Look, he's says he's critic, let him do his own thing whether or not you think he's good at it or not.
-If YOU don't like the show, just give it up. Leave the thread, and go review some higher levels of video.
I don't want this to get locked up for something as stupid as a flamewar.

Same world and characters, but the actors are so bad and the director changed so many key things (eg. the firebenders requiring fire next to them so that they can bend). I wouldn't bother if im honest, and if you really want, can help you watch it online (not the best quality, but meh.)

Haha, did you even read Aidobmac's post? He didn't say anything at all about seeing the movie, only that he is interested in Korra if it is going to be similar to the cartoon. Judging from the 'no way' I would assume he is already aware of how bad the movie is.
Anyway, Korra will be exactly like the series only with different characters. The same two guys who created Avatar are also the minds behind Korra.
