So since our arcade tournament feature is severely underutilized and because we have a nice shiny award that's never been used:

Oooh...ahh....

The idea was born to have a series of tournaments, a so called tournament of champions! And since we couldn't find any champions, we figured we'd use you guys!

For the next four (possibly five) weeks, fourteen tournaments per week. We will release two each day, and will attempt to vary the tournaments. All will be played with 8 players. Most will be played with three tries per round but there may be exceptions. The round will be officially over when the last two tournaments of the week are concluded, although the winner may be clear before that.

For the first week, members may enter no more than 6 tournaments over the 7 day period. Depending on the interest levels, we will adjust the limits in the coming weeks.

Each week there will be a leaderboard, a tournament winner receives four points, a second place finisher receives two points, and a final four competitor receives one point. At the end of the week, the member with the most points will receive VIP, the Arcade Winner Award, and the opportunity to pick a new game for the arcade! Winners of individual arcade tournaments will receive 20 reputation points. No, I can't win the week :( But I can still beat a few of you ;)

You will be able to tell which tournaments are from the ToC because they will be listed in the next post.

Also, some tournaments will only have two plays per round to end games more quickly. Based on feedback we've received, we will be doing a new format come next Saturday which is more of a bracket system for each game.

NEW WEEK NEW FORMAT!

In response to user feedback, particularly those from this thread (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=657952) we are changing the format for the last two weeks of the tournament. We have picked four of the original arcade games (four of the five retro games, not Chopper because you get unlimited plays and this can mess with the tournament) and each will be the center of a 32-man single-elimination bracket.

What this means is that there are four eight-person tournaments for Asteroids, Pacman, Frogger, and Space Invaders. You may only join one of each type of tournament. So for example, you may not enter more than one Pacman tournament, even though there are four.

After the tournaments are completed, there will be a tournament to find the ultimate champion of each game, Asteroids, Pacman, Frogger, and Space Invaders. From there, the four winners will battle in a true tournament of champions, with all four entered in a tournament for each of the four games, and the scoring system will be 2 points for 1st and 1 point for 2nd. Then we will crown the champion of the arcade.

The champion of each game will receive the Forum Award, reputation, and the chance to pick a new forum game, as well as VIP and a Habbo prize for the top two.

This will span the last two weeks of the competition, meaning that these games will be the final tournaments in the Tournament of Champions.

I will replace myself in three of each type of tournament, and I can't win the big prizes because that just wouldn't be fair! If someone wins more than one game, they can pick the second place finisher from either game to take their second spot.


"But what if I lose in the first round?" I hear you say, "must I have no fun for the next two weeks??" Ok, so maybe you didn't say that and if you were going to you would have said it differently. Regardless, did you know that ANYONE can create a tournament? So make a tournament, and play with your friends! The arcade's always there! Also, you may see some tournaments cropping up in another big event that's hitting Habbox soon ;)


PS: Week one and two winners have not yet been announced because not all of the games finished...it dragged on a bit more than expected.

Winners of each tournament will face the other winners of that type of tournament
The four game champions will face off in the ultimate tournament of champions

After that we took on user suggestions and made a massive tournament which involved the four retro games and a 32-man tournament for each game. In total there were 128 entrants (not unique, unique was closer to 95) and we had great participation!

These four champions then competed against each other in the four games above, leading to a true Tournament of Champions to determine the HabboxForum Arcade Champion. The points finished as follows:
