i don't think they'll do that much to the underagers, you hear about it all the time. it's the person who bought it for you and the shop that sold it who will probably get in to more ****. when we got caught they poured it out and took our names and said not to disrupt the neighbourhood but that's it. it's not THAT strict here considering most pubs n clubs are full of underagers

They won't catch you unless you look really suspicious.

ok i've been in this situation many times before
you need to know your rights
basically DON'T open your drink before you get to the party or whatever - this way the police CANNOT confiscate it. you just say you're taking it to your friend or something. the police might ask for their number to clarify this so before you take booze in a bag get a friends number who will back you up
if this doesnt work for whatever reason, they will conficate it, but you don't have to go through loads of crap, they will give you a pink slip with whatever on. it's basically a warning that means nothing

only times i've ever had it done theyve just tipped it down a drain & took our names etc.
nothing came of it though.
so don't worry (:

That is not true lol, my sister was caught with it unopened like a year ago and they took it away and said if she wanted it back then she would have to get me mum to collect it from the police station.

They took my bottle off me and binned it, about 2 seconds after I finished it. They were like you're not 18 blahblha then went away. I thought more would get done than that but i'm not complaining...

nothing happened anyways. everyone got told it was byob but there ended up being tons there. then on the walk home 3 police cars came racing by.
apparently if you haven't been drinking and it'd not open they can't take. but if it's open or you have been drinking they can.

Loads of myths going around, from experience I can tell you that all they will do is take it off you and take your name. If they think you are too drunk to make your own way home safely they will give you a lift - you don't really have an option either when they offer to give lifts. :P

They take it anyway... They aren't going to take the word of someone saying they're 18+, over the phone are they. I know for a fact my sister wouldn't of just handed it over without saying anything. The Police aren't stupid.

It's not an actual offence at the moment although I know there is strong lobbying of parliament to make it so. Some areas do confiscate though as said in previous posts.

Funny thing is, Tara said the exact same thing as me
Whys lying about where you are taking it going to achieve :S? You shouldn't have it in the first place so I highly doubt they're going to let you keep it just because "a mate backs you up" lol
This is what happens in Liverpool so it might be different to you, must happen in Ireland too if Tara said it's happened to her brother

they cannot take it off you if it's sealed & you havent been drinking if you live in england
Depends what you're doing with it. If you're simply taking it to a house, they can't really do much if you have permission off the house owner and your guardian. There is a law that allows police to dispose of the alcohol, which is usually pouring it down the drain. If you want to be smart, you can always turn the tables around and state that they're breaking the Water Resources Act since it's an offence to pour anything that could pollute a controlled water system - well if you know you're doing it.
Just don't give them any reason to search you :)

Hmm well my mate got caught with lots of cans on the way to an exam (To drop it off for a party beforehand). They rang his friend and also his parents to confirm there was a party and he was going to an exam. They then warned him and took four cans, leaving him twelve.
If you hide it you're not going to get caught simple as.

I find this hard to believe because around here if we are in a big group some drinking and some not, even if the people who are not drinking have a bag with any alcohol in they will still take it off you.

probably because you're with people who have been drinking and they'll think you'll supply? if you're on your own, not drinking, it's sealed, they can't take off of you.

Never let them find your fake ID, you'll get that taken away fo' sho' + they'll contact whoever the ID belongs to and they'll get hassled for it.
