Any recommendations on what I can get for £1000?

Was thinking an apple laptop but then I could get one with more features/faster etc for less money if it wasn't apple. Idk much about laptops/spec/ram/anything else like that so help :P +reps!!

You can get pretty much whatever you want for a grand. Although you'll find laptops of the £499 area that will do the job you seem to want it to do (Just general browsing/gaming/school work).

If all you want it for is a good screen and fast why are you spending £1000 on one anyway?

I got a Dell Studio 15.
Pretty fast and the screen is full HD.
Does the job for just under 600.

But to be honest I myself would reccommend a macbook/pro

Stick with a Dell. I have a MacBook and at times I wish I hadn't got a Mac.

You'll get much more for your money too.

Acer and Toshiba suck.

Why are people telling him to get a Macbook? 1. It's way overkill, he'd be best off with a £500 Dell 2. He'll get so much more for his money it's ridiculous 3. He won't have to put up with the **** that is EFI boot.

Erm, Toshiba is the worst make ever, they sold me a laptop which ive now had for 1 and a half years, no USB's worth, the parts bellow the mouse are cracked and falling apart and the mouse is worn out. and this isn't from lack of care. They've just happened, also I had to get the keyboard replaced and the charger porn fixed. Also my dad has a Toshiba TV and it's so slow, it's terrible.

Get a mac book pro like me :) Although mine was £200 more cos i wanted the bigger screen :P

I'd never go back to windows, even though i could have got a much better laptop for so much cheaper, but my mac does what i need it to do.

You have the cash so get a macbook pro. Believe me I've had 2 £1000+ laptops (sony vaios) and they just don't compare to my imac or macbook pro in terms of performance, reliability, enjoyment using it etc.

Get a £500 laptop and go on holiday with the rest. Do you need such a highly spec'd machine?

lmaoo, I'm not decided yet, not planning on buying it for a few weeks. Atm it does just make more sense to save a few hundred quid on a machine with the same capabilities as one that's more money with an apple logo on... Admittedly it's not quite as simple as that and it would be great to have a macbook. Mehhhh, idk.

Just go to pc world or wherever and have a go with one that is out on display. The salesman at PC world when I went to buy mine was luckily an apple fan boy and he was telling me why they are so much better than PC's, how easy it is to learn from a pc and what I should do when I get home with it, it was as if he went back to the day he got his first mac and just wanted to make sure I have such a good time with mine to. :P

Sell the iPod touch and get back some of the money? :D

But really you'd be better off finding one on ebay, or at least Apple's backstock of refurbished (yet new condition) laptops.

I bought my MacBook from the Apple refurb store, turned out it was brand spankin' new, just End of Life! :)

I think it was around £670 at the time.
