Obviously titles are a very important aspect of films, as a great, snappy title is sure to catch your attention and they're made all the better when you hear the trailer guy saying them. Fight Club, sounds brutal. There Will Be Blood, ah hell yeah! The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, its got my attention! Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, alright! Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, sounds cool enough. Strangers on a Train, no way!? Snakes on a Plane, seriously!? The Thing, what thing? Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. Jaws, simple yet effective. Some Like it Hot, they sure do. Bulletproof Monk, that's some hard monk. You get the picture. Titles can leave a big impression.

I was just wondering what movie titles left the biggest impression on you, or simply what you think the best movie titles are? Whether they're cool, witty, just plain stupid, or mean something to you - let me know!

I think I'll have to go with The Man Who Stole the Sun. Not only does it sound epicly cool, but it gives you a sense of the scale of the movie and the themes within, even though it did kind of go in the opposite direction. Ghost in the Shell, Throne of Blood and The Sun's Burial are some other titles I love.

This may be a rather strange thread but with that I hope we'll get some interesting replies!

Ah, Surf Nazis Must Die, the delectable Troma. I find exploitation movies have the best titles because they say exactly what the movie is, albeit pretty crazily. For instance, I'm thanked in the credits of Incest Death Squad 2. What a title.

Thank You For Smoking piqued my curiosity just because of the controversial title, although originally a novel I talk about the film of course.
I always thought Lolita was quite a powerful title, considering how it's gained ground as an actual word. The first time I saw the film, the 1997 version, I already knew what the word meant and so I knew what the film was going to be about. However only while watching did I realise where the word came from, originally used as a nickname. I thought it was quite funny that people could know it as a word without knowing where it came from. Says a lot about how notorious the word is, or maybe just how ignorant I am :P

Eclipse :P
No erm... Star Wars is a good title because if you like anything to do with space you're going to like the film and that's expressed in the title :)

Moon.

So... sterile and lonely. Reflects the film perfectly.

Yeah I'd have to go with Jackass right now as I don't really know any.

I don't really have much reasoning for this but I love the sound of Terminator, the fact that I thought it sounded so cool is why I ended up watching the first followed by the sequences.
