Which do you prefer listening to? Honestly I find songs sung by females to be more pretty, so I tend to prefer female singers (I'm not sure if that's because of my taste, because I myself am male or what!)

Male singers although I've never listened to any non-mainstream female artists.

it really depends. im not one to really care about whats commonly perceived as a "pretty" voice, as the ones you'd hear on american idol or on some pop songs, to me theyre really bland and uninteresting. when i think of truly pretty voice, i think of someone like joanna newsom (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WFtFEBob08) or jonsi from sigur ros. they can sing really pretty and they have incredible range, but they have a distinct voice that sets them apart from any other singers, and thats what i really like.

but i guess i have a lot more music with male vocalists than i do female vocalist. its about an 80/20 split, give or take. thats not really because i have a preference though, i think it's just undeniable fact that there is far less music featuring female vocals rather than male, especially in certain genres.

I find female vocalists to be more appealing in case for songs that are very vocally oriented, most of the music I enjoy is based on the instrumentation though (and it's kind of a male dominated area)

still would rather listen to beyonce than some pop guy though

I think there are a lot more female singers than male singers, so I do tend to listen to more female singers. But I do prefer female singers :)

I prefer males, although I listen to very little female singers. I absolutely despise Paramore now so in b4 that. I mainly listen to metal/rock/indie though so female voices dont really go there. Although I do like the band Eyes Set To Kill which has a female vocalist.

This pretty much x]
I love eyes set to kill and as Paul said, they do have a female singer.
I don't have very much music on my playlist that have a female singer, I do have some though.
My two favourite bands both have male vocals so I guess I prefer them! x]

I listen to females a lot more, my music collection is probably about 70% female/20% male/10% mixed. :)

Since my favourite band is Nightwish and my favourite singer is Enya, I would be inclined to say female but I don't think I prefer either. There are are some damn good male singers out there, just like there are female singers.

If it's a solo artist then I tend to listen to females more, when it's a band it'll be males.

There was nothing wrong with his post.. why bother editing it? Nothing better to do?

I prefer male, definitely. Do those 2 words change anything over techno's answer?

malemalemale. i have a real problem with female singers/female bands. though this could be the fact i generally do not get on with girls LOL.

however one of my favourite bands the xx has a female vocalist, and i love her. but that is because she's so different.
same with help she can't swim & crystal castles.

thing is for me it depends on the genre, i think male singers are good at mainstream without the use of autotune, in my opinion i only like rap if it's done by a female and it's tied on rock music for me. So it all depends on the genre to me.
