I imagine this change wouldn't affect many of our forum members, as im asking this to be solely for the anime forum.

Basically, the rule i feel should be changed is;
A5. Do not use this forum for any illegal practices, including but not limited to:

Being involved in hacking or encouraging hacking.
Breaking of the Habbo Way or encouraging T&C violation.
Posting warez or other illegal downloads.

Not all of it, just the "Posting of warez of other illegal downloads.". If you watch anime online, then afaik, that is "illegal" because it is not licensed. However, it isn't really considered that since for a lot of anime, that is the only place that anyone from places such as the UK can watch anime. So i think it should be an exception atleast in the anime forum.

Like i says, not a massive change or one many of the people on this forum will care about, but to just save the trouble for the peopl who use the forum would be quite nice. Also, not allowed to send them in PMs, what?!?

Yeah.

It is against the law and will not be allowed. The rule will remain the same.

To expand on what Garion has said. The reasons behind this rule is due to the following:

Christ all mighty it really does amaze me the lengths that people go to argue the worlds most pointless argument, where the hell did the thread go off in a tangent from "warez are not allowed" to the ethical, moral and legal implications of murder and child pornography and how many albums scottish can afford with his pocket money.

Worlds worst persuasive argument technique. I honestly think I would have to walk away from a person who decided to argue like that with me irl just out of repulsion.

ANYWAY TO BULLDOZE THIS THREAD BACK ON TOPIC.

Why?

Because I am sick of the DMCA, CI or C&D emails from various companies and what not about such and such thread. More importantly our datacenter aren't best pleased as they are the ones that get contacted first then they pass the message on to us.

HxF.com is not a small hidden forum it gets noticed very quickly, even if it is 3 months down the line, a complaint does come through when a company notices a particular thread.

Hxf.com never was, is, or will be a warez/serials forum, there are plenty of sites out there for that, this is not the place.

What is allowed and what isn't allowed?

Posting or linking to serials, warez, cracks on the forum or directly to the location on another site is not allowed.

Referring a member to another site in general is allowed.

To clarify.

Hi, I need a serial/crack for photoshop.

Hey you can use this serial 83jDim-33nde-3j3ne - Not allowed

Hey look at this www.serial.co.uk/photoshop-serial.html (http://www.serial.co.uk/photoshop-serial.html) - Not allowed

Download it from my site, www.mysite.com/photoshop.zip (http://www.mysite.com/photoshop.zip) - Not allowed

Why don't you go search for "photoshop crack" on isohunt/piratebay/rapidshare/surfthechannel/google/limewire. - Allowed

myserials.net is a site i use, try over there. - Allowed

We wont allow direct linking to warez and serials as that counts as indexing copyright content which is still an offence however suggesting a site does not count.

If you link to a site because, oh I dunno it has a lolcat on it and you want to share it with the humour forum and it happens to advertise or have a link to a warez site then obviously we wont take any action against you.

This quite simply is to wash our hands clean of any accountability or liability so I dont have to go shopping for a new datacenter once our current one gets sick and tired of the emails.

Thing is though, i dont think the anime sites do get any complaints, usually because they're selling the fansubs and the original company may get royalties (honestly, i ahve no idea how any of this works), the same with movies n everything that is just released. All i know is that it is genrally not thought of as illegal, and companies generally dont mind since we wouldnt be able to see it if we didnt.

Also, why aren't u allowed to PM it? Not that you'd be able to see if someone had

Simple, do it in private or tell people to search for it on Google. The rules are okay with that :P It's what I do when people are talking about a TV program, I just go search it on Google and watch it. Also, if you find it on YouTube you can give the link, as YouTube is a self-moderating body and if they allow it then the same rule applies to HxF, seeing as Habbox cannot really touch or manipulate laws in and around the UK including US law :P

The thing is it only takes one person to complain either because they genuinely believe we shouldn't be endorsing / allowing such activity or simply because they want to try and cause us trouble (which does happen and will happen) and we end up in a situation as Jin has cited above. The rule is an umbrella rule that accounts for any violation of law and we won't make exceptions for it. We won't publicly allow you to break the law even if it is generally not considered law breaking by the general populace. The bottom line is that it does break the law and we could get into trouble for allowing it. There are plenty of other sites out there people can get their anime from.

It's not allowed to be sent via PM for the same reasons. If for whatever reason we have to read your PMs and find PMs have been exchanged with illegal content you will still be punished, as we are still technically "allowing" the sharing of illegal content on the forum.

Oh and sorry for the blunt first post lol.
