Too many favourites from each year. I would probably agree with 2005 being Sin City, and my 2009 favourite was Inglourious *******s (unbiased POV). So far this year my favourite has been Inception.

So far this year, Inception and Shutter island take the top spot for me.
Avatar and Hangover I'd probably agree on for last year.

Avatar was my worst film of 2009.

Surely even you saw something worse than that.

Moon from 2009 is already one of my favourite films of all time. Anything Nolan is pretty damn fine anyway.

Haha yer :P

My favorite from this year so far is definitely Inception...
Watchmen or District 9 would take 2009
Wall E or Cloverfield for 2008

These are just off the top of my head.

I agree with a lot of your selections, but not Grizzly Man. Most of those in the film were reading from a script.

Your source? A lot seemed very improvised to me. I wouldn't really mind though as the film was first and foremost about Timothy Treadwell, whose footage was never scripted. The film offered a deep insight into this intriguing man and as a viewer I came away entirely satisfied, knowing that's exactly what I got and then some.

You could tell. Especially the guy who supposedly performed the autopsy. Wasn't natural at all. Many, many people have said the same thing, I made sure to look into it the second it ended. So blatantly scripted in fact that a lot of people have even gone as far as to prove that Treadwell even existed to make sure the documentary wasn't a hoax.

Aha, I just thought the autopsy guy was rather eccentric, but yes that part did seem rather scripted. Nevertheless, it didn't hinder my enjoyed of the film, as everyone besides Treadwell was just a means of information. Scripted or not they served their purpose and the film came together. I don't see what the problem is. Not all documentaries are masterfully improvised.

It's still a legit documentary, but I was completely taken out of it once I hear the scripted lines.

I saw this not long ago and I was very pleasantly surprised. Great cinematography and a very interesting ending. Almost as if he would have liked it to end that way.

Best film for me recently was Defiance. Loved it.

i could definitely list my favorite music by year, but i dont think i could do my favorite movies by year. i just dont think of movies in the same way, often i wont see a movie until years after it is released. the context of release time just isnt as important to me as it is with music. but ill just make a list of what i think are my 10 favorites of the past 10 years, in no particular order;

eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
being john malkovich
little miss sunshine
no country for old men
best in show
there will be blood
superbad
anchorman
the departed
up in the air
