It's amazing! As I've upgraded from a crappy Blackberry Bold 9700 I can't compare it to anything such as the iPhone nor the S2 but from what I am seeing, it is smooth, fast and has no problems anywhere. The best phone I've had. Light, Gorilla Glass 2 ftw & It feels lovely.

I do mean their as opposed to there, that should be quite clear. I don't mean to sound like a negative Nancy here, but:
- The resolution of your phone is awful and the screen size is minuscule
- The BlackBerry 6 web browser doesn't even compare to Chrome on Android
- Your processor is a piece of garbage and is easily trumped by even old Galaxy handsets (and I'm not talking about a small difference, you're 624Mhz compared to 1Ghz+ duo and quad core)
- Only has 256mb internal storage (which is actually shocking, loads of Samsung phones have 2GB+ internal storage)
- there is a very limited amount of apps available to you (I'm not just talking about a small difference, I'm talking about a difference of hundreds of thousands)
- all your data is routed through a BES server which has proven to be unreliable and slower (only business people benefit from this not consumers but don't try telling RIM that)
- your data is upto 6x slower in uploads and downloads than in real smartphones due to the poor radio in the bold
- your camera is 5MP which is surprisingly good for RIM, but compared to the iPhone 4s and many Android handsets you could of gotten 8MP
- Your battery life is worse than even old versions of the Samsung Galaxy such as the S (and worse than the iPhone 4S which is even worse than the iPhone 4's battery life)
- Android and iOS both have really nice voice controls which bbos lacks
- Even comparing your bold to the old iPhone 4 and the old Samsung Galaxy, your phone is thicker in dimensions
- No accelerometer (HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?)
- No video call camera (for instance Samsung and Apple have front facing cameras for video calls)
Here's a rough comparison of your phone to the Galaxy W, which was released in 2011 (presently outdated handset):

Here's a rough comparison of your phone to the Galaxy S III (more recent Samsung phone):

The matter of opinion here isn't whether BlackBerry handsets are better than other handsets, because it's factual that BlackBerry handsets are remarkably worse than other handsets (the hardware and software evidence doesn't lie). The only matter of opinion here is whether you're happy having a worse phone, when you could have gotten a better phone for the same price.
I don't want to say anybody got ripped off for buying certain phones (maybe there's a circumstance here that I don't know about), but when folks waltz into a phone store and come out with a BlackBerry (or even other phones) over better phones in the market, they often got ripped off by their phone carriers (who's motivations aren't to please consumers but are to maximise sales commissions). I strongly urge you in the future to take an hour and just do a bit of research before you make an investment in a phone again (especially in the Canada/American market where we have 3 year contracts as the norm). You or your parents are going to spend hundreds or in some cases thousands of dollars in cellular bills a year so you might as well maximise your enjoyment out of your handset, as opposed to just settling for something worse off.
The phone market has changed a lot since Palm, RIM and Nokia dominated the industry, and you can get a LOT more bang for the buck if you're willing to put a bit more effort into finding out what the best buy is, as opposed to just settling for what's convenient, or what you're used to (because even though you might not be used to an Android phone, a lot of people would say having to get used using it is nothing in comparison to how much certain Android phones bring to the table).

I do mean their as opposed to there, that should be quite clear. I don't mean to sound like a negative Nancy here, but:
- The resolution of your phone is awful and the screen size is minuscule
I don't notice screen issues whatsoever, to have a bigger screen means having a bigger phone (i like the size) or no keyboard.
- The BlackBerry 6 web browser doesn't even compare to Chrome on Android
The browser isn't the best but I don't use it, most of the time I have my laptop. I use it for HxF, and googling things.
- Your processor is a piece of garbage and is easily trumped by even old Galaxy handsets (and I'm not talking about a small difference, you're 624Mhz compared to 1Ghz+ duo and quad core)
Why on earth do I need a massive processor, I don't even use enough to need more
- Only has 256mb internal storage (which is actually shocking, loads of Samsung phones have 2GB+ internal storage)
That's what media cards were invented for. Transferrable storage.
- there is a very limited amount of apps available to you (I'm not just talking about a small difference, I'm talking about a difference of hundreds of thousands)
BRB downloading thousands of apps to slow my phone down - noone needs apps on their phone. I have Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp and 2 games. Literally can't think of something else I'd need?
- all your data is routed through a BES server which has proven to be unreliable and slower (only business people benefit from this not consumers but don't try telling RIM that)
I only have speed issues when Orange **** up my contract and the 3G dies.
- your data is upto 6x slower in uploads and downloads than in real smartphones due to the poor radio in the bold
why on earth does anyone need to upload or download anything on their PHONE. My 'contract' doesn't even cover videos so that rules that out
- your camera is 5MP which is surprisingly good for RIM, but compared to the iPhone 4s and many Android handsets you could of gotten 8MP
I have a 12MP camera.
- Your battery life is worse than even old versions of the Samsung Galaxy such as the S (and worse than the iPhone 4S which is even worse than the iPhone 4's battery life)
Where you're getting that fact from is beyond me, my phone lasts much longer than my friend's iphones when we use them the same amount (they usually have to charge every day, me once ever 2 or 3)
- Android and iOS both have really nice voice controls which bbos lacks
I'd rather not look crazy talking to my phone
- Even comparing your bold to the old iPhone 4 and the old Samsung Galaxy, your phone is thicker in dimensions
I'd rather not have something that FEELS flimsy, it's much thinner than my old blackberry. I used to have the v3i and I always felt like I was going to break it.
- No accelerometer (HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?)
I don't even know what this is so it can't be that important
- No video call camera (for instance Samsung and Apple have front facing cameras for video calls)
Yeah a front facing camera would be nice, but a bit of a fad. My 'contract' once again wouldn't cover video calls, but they're pointless anyway - I have skype on my laptop for that.
Here's a rough comparison of your phone to the Galaxy W, which was released in 2011 (presently outdated handset):

I don't notice screen issues whatsoever, to have a bigger screen means having a bigger phone (i like the size) or no keyboard.
No it doesn't. Half your phone is your keyboard, and you can get one of equal size with a slideout...
The browser isn't the best but I don't use it, most of the time I have my laptop. I use it for HxF, and googling things.
It's awful, there is better and even when you're just out and about on facebook or checking a small thing your browser is still worse, and your data is still waaay slower
Why on earth do I need a massive processor
Because it helps to make your phone faster......
That's what media cards were invented for. Transferrable storage.
You mean SD cards? That's another expense and your phone only allows for 32GB maximum. Also unless you fork over the cash for a good SD card you wont get a big one with read write speeds as fast as solid state storage built into your phone. In other words it's slower.
BRB downloading thousands of apps to slow my phone down - noone needs apps on their phone. I have Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp and 2 games. Literally can't think of something else I'd need?
1. Nobody has thousands of apps
2. Having a lot of apps doesn't automatically make your phone slower
3. Your phone is way slower to begin with
4. You asked what apps you need. Apple and Google devs make bucketloads of money from app sales so clearly a lot of people like application availability You might too, if you had apps at your disposal but on BBOS you have no such luxury. You don't know what you're missing out on :)
I only have speed issues when Orange **** up my contract and the 3G dies.
I didn't say you have inconsistencies with speed, I said your download and upload speeds are much worse than other handsets. If you bought a smartphone you could have 6x faster download speeds and 4x faster upload speeds.
why on earth does anyone need to upload or download anything on their PHONE. My 'contract' doesn't even cover videos so that rules that out
Every time you go on the internet, download a song, download an app, send a BB message, a KiK message, whatsapp message, check an email, send an email, post on twitter, view twitter you are using data and that's uploading and downloading.
You like countless other consumers are misled in the mobile industry to believe that data is only for web browsing but in reality a plethora of your mobile functionality is dependant on mobile data. This has lead to mobile carriers creating "blackberry data" plans and removing unlimited data plans, as well as making them more expensive, in the US and Canada. People don't realize how certain aspects of the industry work, and corporations take advantage of us by overcharging.
I have a 12MP camera.
I carry around my phone and use that as my camera. You complained about size if your screen was bigger, so surly carrying around a camera and your phone is even worse ;)
Your phone camera is a miserably outdated 5MP.
Where you're getting that fact from is beyond me, my phone lasts much longer than my friend's iphones when we use them the same amount (they usually have to charge every day, me once ever 2 or 3)
Tell her to turn off location services, bluetooth, wifi, dim her screen and close unnecessary push services then. There are Android phones and iphones which have better battery conditions than your phone.
I'd rather not look crazy talking to my phone
I'd rather be able to just say in my bed "set an alarm for tomorrow at 8am, disable wifi" and have my phone do it for me. It's a feature your phone lacks.
I'd rather not have something that FEELS flimsy, it's much thinner than my old blackberry. I used to have the v3i and I always felt like I was going to break it.
There's loads and loads of Android phones, and Apple devices which do not feel flimsy :S
I don't even know what this is so it can't be that important
So everything you don't understand isn't important? When I don't understand something I try to learn about it, but maybe this attitude you have is the reason you don't care that you've been ripped off by buying that handset.
When I rotate my phone it rotates the screen orientation for me. When I bring my phone to my ear it turns off the screen to conserve battery life. When I play games I can twist my phone like a wii mote and use it as a controller. When I want to invoke siri I can shake my phone and it pops up.
Just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean it's not "important". Just because you've never used something, you can't pass judgement on it.
Yeah a front facing camera would be nice, but a bit of a fad. My 'contract' once again wouldn't cover video calls, but they're pointless anyway - I have skype on my laptop for that.
If you think you need to pay your carrier for "video calling" then it's possible you're being mislead by advertising (unless you mean you don't have a lot of data to use on video calling and that you would need to buy data from your carrier specifically for a service like skype).
On iOS and Android you can just use skype over wifi or 3g and video call. On iOS you can use FaceTime. These are features built into the operating system, and are not related to your phone carrier at all.
Good for that comparison - I CAN'T USE TOUCHSCREENS so find me a decent alternative with a keyboard and I'll listen to anything you have to say.
There's a HOP down in New York so I can't get on half of the internet, but there's lots of HTC phones with nice keyboards, just go to their site and check it out.
---
It sounds like your stance is that you don't know what features are, or you don't need them. Nobody needs them but for the same price as your phone surly you want what's most price efficient for what you get. For $1000 for instance, I could buy one computer or I could buy another computer, and chances are one of those computers would have better benchmarks then the other (for various reasons, different manufactures, different sellers, manufactured in different years). Hopefully before I made the buy I would of done my research and hopefully I would have bought the computer with the better specs. It's the exact same thing with phones. They're mobile computers and after activation feeds, paying for your phone and paying monthly fees they're pretty much just as if not more expensive.

No it doesn't. Half your phone is your keyboard, and you can get one of equal size with a slideout...
slides are usually touchscreens too, and prone to being broken.
It's awful, there is better and even when you're just out and about on facebook or checking a small thing your browser is still worse, and your data is still waaay slower
since when have you owned a blackberry to know how bad it is? my phone often searches faster than my dad's iphone when we're on the same network!!
Because it helps to make your phone faster......
don't need it any faster, does everythin as soon as i tell it too
You mean SD cards? That's another expense and your phone only allows for 32GB maximum. Also unless you fork over the cash for a good SD card you wont get a big one with read write speeds as fast as solid state storage built into your phone. In other words it's slower.
I honestly don't know how I afforded 4 quid for a 4GB memory card :'( Tough times indeed... I have 4 'alarm' songs and a few photos stored, don't need anything more!
1) hyperbole
2) does on a blackberry
3) it's fast enough for me
4) i. do. not. need. any. other. apps. The only app I'd like that's not available on BB is StarMap, but, as like so many other things, technology takes the fun out of stargazing.
I didn't say you have inconsistencies with speed, I said your download and upload speeds are much worse than other handsets. If you bought a smartphone you could have 6x faster download speeds and 4x faster upload speeds.
Every time you go on the internet, download a song, download an app, send a BB message, a KiK message, whatsapp message, check an email, send an email, post on twitter, view twitter you are using data and that's uploading and downloading.
I didn't say I didn't, I just said I don't need them. I realise that I'm using basic upload/download speeds for every little thing, I'm not stupid, but it's pretty much instant!
Once again I'm not stupid, I know blackberry are being greedy by the way they need to have data plans but that's exactly why i'm not on a contract! Your beloved apple is WAY more infamous for overcharging for effectively, **** materials, so don't even start that. It'd be going offtopic so I'm not saying any more on that.
I carry around my phone and use that as my camera. You complained about size if your screen was bigger, so surly carrying around a camera and your phone is even worse ;)
Your phone camera is a miserably outdated 5MP.
Phone goes in pocket, camera in bag. Not a problem. And boohoo, 5mp, phones are phones cameras are cameras.
Tell her to turn off location services, bluetooth, wifi, dim her screen and close unnecessary push services then. There are Android phones and iphones which have better battery conditions than your phone.
Him, and as far as I'm aware he already does, as he doesn't have his own charger and has to rely on other people's.
I'd rather be able to just say in my bed "set an alarm for tomorrow at 8am, disable wifi" and have my phone do it for me. It's a feature your phone lacks.
Clearly you're very lazy then. Pressing one button isn't exactly the epitome of 'active' but still
There's loads and loads of Android phones, and Apple devices which do not feel flimsy :S
Obviously they don't FEEL flimsy but they don't feel, like, there. IDK how to describe it, but I like to know I'm holding a phone
So everything you don't understand isn't important? When I don't understand something I try to learn about it, but maybe this attitude you have is the reason you don't care that you've been ripped off by buying that handset.
Just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean it's not "important". Just because you've never used something, you can't pass judgement on it.
Yeah I wasn't ripped off at all. Buying an iPhone, that's being ripped off. What I meant is, my phone works fine for me without one so it doesn't really effect me.
When I rotate my phone it rotates the screen orientation for me. When I bring my phone to my ear it turns off the screen to conserve battery life. When I play games I can twist my phone like a wii mote and use it as a controller. When I want to invoke siri I can shake my phone and it pops up.
I don't need to rotate my phone. When I'm on the phone the screen turns off to conserve battery life. I don't play many games, only ones that need the keyboard/trackpad. If i want to invoke voice commands I press 1 small button.
My package only covers basic things, so it wouldn't cover that. I barely like video calling on skype so why i'd need that on a phone is beyyyonnnnddddd me.
There's a HOP down in New York so I can't get on half of the internet, but there's lots of HTC phones with nice keyboards, just go to their site and check it out.
yes for 3x the price I paid for my phone... and my package is so cheap you can't get a similar one for androids!
---
It sounds like your stance is that you don't know what features are, or you don't need them. They're mobile computers and after activation feeds, paying for your phone and paying monthly fees they're pretty much just as if not more expensive.
My stance is more... you need to realise that not everyone's like you. People like different things, people have different needs/expectations from a phone. I don't see the point in paying as much as I did for a decent laptop and decent(ish) camera and paying another huge lump (which quite frankly, I don't have) for something that performs the same functions. I did a bit of research when getting this phone but I had a blackberry for 2 years before I got this one, and the only issues I had with it was because of how badly I treated it.
For the price I paid I could get probably the worst HTC and an eigth of an iPhone, not particularly useful.

Many of your rebuttals consist of "well I don't need that". People of North Korea think they have it good, until they escape and realize that it's everyone else who has it better. In the first place they thought they had it good because they never knew what they were missing out on. When it comes to phones, this is you and essentially almost every other BlackBerry user. You think what you have is good but it's actually a giant heap of bulky crap in comparison to what is, infact, truly good.
You can defend (as you have below) your purchase but I've brought to the table the fact that your phone is statistically inferior to other phones for similar prices and you cannot refute this fact. Even below you've still yet to rationalize why you rightfully minded purchased something worse, when you could have gotten something statistically better at no greater consequence. I think what happened was you thought there was virtually no differences in hardware and software between your BlackBerry, and other phones on the market.
slides are usually touchscreens too, and prone to being broken.
HTC has released handsets in the past such as the HTC Dream, Desire, Touch, Magic and the Nexus One which all have trackballs/trackpads so you don't need to use the really simple and finger friendly high resolution touchscreen.
Prone to be broken? Show me the statistical analysis which you're basing this claim on.
since when have you owned a blackberry to know how bad it is? my phone often searches faster than my dad's iphone when we're on the same network!!
Since like four phones ago when I was stupid enough to own one before switching to an HTC Vogue. They're god awful and outdated in software and hardware for years, and anybody who buys one is grotesquely misinformed and didn't research what they were buying before they bought it. It's even worse because the company is hurting severely because just now everyone is just beginning to notice how big of rocks they are, and it's impacting Canadian employment (because they're a big employer here and is annoys me how because of the companies stupidity folks have/will lose jobs).
don't need it any faster, does everythin as soon as i tell it too
You could of gotten something better for the same price, and the reason that you didn't is that you "didn't need anything faster".
"Hi. I bought this really expensive and overpriced shed to live in instead of an equally priced house, because I don't need a house to live in. I'm fine with a shed."
Choosing the worse item out of two equally priced items, is not justification as to why you choose the worst item out of the two equally priced items.
I honestly don't know how I afforded 4 quid for a 4GB memory card :'( Tough times indeed... I have 4 'alarm' songs and a few photos stored, don't need anything more!
A slow and small 4GB memory card. Could of had a Samsung handset with 64GB solid internal memory :)
1) hyperbole
2) does on a blackberry
3) it's fast enough for me
4) i. do. not. need. any. other. apps. The only app I'd like that's not available on BB is StarMap, but, as like so many other things, technology takes the fun out of stargazing.
Nobody "needs" apps, but they get them because they're fun/awesome.
You cannot experience this because you've never experienced what it's like to actually have a phone capable of apping properly.
As afromentioned: Choosing the worse item out of two equally priced items, is not justification as to why you choose the worst item out of the two equally priced items.
I didn't say I didn't, I just said I don't need them. I realise that I'm using basic upload/download speeds for every little thing, I'm not stupid, but it's pretty much instant!
It only feels fast (and not painfully slow) because you're not used to using a smartphone, wherein it is actually fast.
I don't really care that you're saying it's fast, because if you go here:
http://geekaphone.com/compare/Samsung-GALAXY-W-vs-RIM-BlackBerry-Bold-9780
Their breakdown comparison between your phone and an *old* Galaxy shows that the Galaxy is faster.
It's a fact that your BlackBerry is slower, whether you want to see it or not.
Beloved Apple? I'm defending my points with examples of Samsung Galaxy handsets, not iPhones :S
Phone goes in pocket, camera in bag. Not a problem. And boohoo, 5mp, phones are phones cameras are cameras.
I guess you better tell that to the countless millions of Facebook users who upload photos from their phones to Facebook then. They will be crushed to learn that taking advantage of having a camera with you at all times via your phone is the wrong thing to do!!!!!!
Him, and as far as I'm aware he already does, as he doesn't have his own charger and has to rely on other people's.
I've charged my iPhone once this week once, and as for Android phones:
http://blog.laptopmag.com/best-battery-life-longest-lasting-smart-phones
It looks like we've got some pretty good battery happy candidates :)
Clearly you're very lazy then. Pressing one button isn't exactly the epitome of 'active' but still
If I'm lazy what are you, because I for one don't blow hundreds of dollars on out of date bulky under preforming phones.
Obviously they don't FEEL flimsy but they don't feel, like, there. IDK how to describe it, but I like to know I'm holding a phone
Well you not wanting to use an onscreen keyboard is just "lazy" of you
Yeah I wasn't ripped off at all. Buying an iPhone, that's being ripped off. What I meant is, my phone works fine for me without one so it doesn't really effect me.
I can buy a $99 iPhone 4 on contract or I can buy a $99 BlackBerry on that same contract. The iPhone 4 will have hundreds of thousands of more apps, an accelerometer, better screen, better CPU, better browser, nicer interface, voice controls (siri if I want to jailbreak), faster data and better battery life. Yeah, buying an iPhone over a BlackBerry is a colossal ripoff!!!!!!!111one
I don't need to rotate my phone. When I'm on the phone the screen turns off to conserve battery life. I don't play many games, only ones that need the keyboard/trackpad. If i want to invoke voice commands I press 1 small button.
Yeah I didn't need this feature either, but I realized that since I can have it at no greater expense, I might as well have it.
Since you don't need javascript and stylesheets when you browse the internet, why don't you go ahead and turn those things off?
Since you don't need to use your monitor at its native resolution, why don't you go ahead and set it to 640x480?
Since you don't need the fullest extent of your computer's CPU to use it, why don't you intentionally underclock all your cores to 288mhz?
You wont do any of those things because doing any of them is stupid. You shouldn't use Internet Explorer 6 or Netscape Navigator compared to Internet Explorer 10 or the latest version of Firefox because although it wont cost you more either way, one is clearly better than the other, so choosing the worse item just because you don't absolutely need the better option is pretty much the definition of stupidity in my books.
My package only covers basic things, so it wouldn't cover that. I barely like video calling on skype so why i'd need that on a phone is beyyyonnnnddddd me.
If you live in the UK or the US then there's practically public wifi oozing out of your ears. You also said you had a laptop so I'm going to assume you have wifi at home, unless of course you plug in your laptop using an rj45 because you don't "need" wifi (wouldn't surprise me at this point).
yes for 3x the price I paid for my phone... and my package is so cheap you can't get a similar one for androids!
---
I can literally go on kijiji or eBay and find an Android phone for $100 (that's like 50 pounds) that's off contract and that has better specs than yours, go do that.
I don't care if you are so unlike me that your skin is purple, your hair green and that you have 52 piercings on the surface area of your left knee. Your stance is that you're trying to justify your purchase of a phone which is in both hardware and software worse than another phone which you could have purchased instead.
For the price I paid I could get probably the worst HTC and an eigth of an iPhone, not particularly useful.
Go look at what I said about eBay and Kijiji and please drop me a PM in two weeks telling me you've dropped your BlackBerry in the river.
I think you need to realise that not everyone is like you.
Fortunately I already realize this because I (heavens forbid) don't presently have within my possession a BlackBerry, but instead I have a smartphone :)

Don't be ridiculous, you can't possibly like a blackberry even if it does everything you need it to and more
you have to fork over at least twice what i paid for an iphone plus a stupidly expensive contract because there's basically no other options for iphones whereas i can get exactly what i need very cheaply
but i can't possibly like it because it doesn't have a billion mp camera or an accelorometer which obviously doesn't effect me :'( :'( :'(

Laura is a big girl, and we're both capable of debating the pros and cons of different cellular handsets. The only "attacking" going on here is from you and Lizzy who don't have anything relative to contribute to the discussion, but are only urked that I'm telling your friend that I don't like a product she owns (and if you think that's the definition of attacking then oh, dear). Laura clearly has enough backbone to defend her opinions, and if you would like to jump in because you feel an obligation to your friend then by all means go ahead and post your own thoughts and your own opinions :) If your only point is, "don't argue with her she's my friend," then that's just ridiculous.

No way can people get a better phone than mine for the price I paid. No, I didn't buy it from Blackberry direct, or even new (technology exchange, but mint condition), where the same place, an HTC (not the wildfire as i know thats worse) or iPhone was substantially more than that. I understand you think I could have got a better spec, but not at the same price, I wasn't prepared to pay any more than I did.

Mine's not a curve ahah, the curves are rubbish compared to the bolds! My sister's and ex boyfriend's and friend's wildfires have all had issues in the time i've had this phone!
people tend to judge BBs on curves just because they're cheaper/more popular - they're cheaper because they're not as good, simple as.

This exact same thing happened to me back when I unfortunately and stupidly had a BlackBerry. It stopped turning on and a friend at a carrier loaned me an HTC Vogue. After they told me my BlackBerry was fixed I told them I didn't want it, and I bought a used Vogue from Kijiji. I had slapped Android on my vogue and even a slightly glitchy Android port back then made my old BlackBerry look like a heap of crap (because that's all it really is).
I would have thought RIM would of improved to match the software and hardware that Apple and Google's (and partners) play with, but instead they just stood still in the industry for years and let everybody else surpass them. Again as a Canadian I'm totally distraught that they're suffering so poorly, but at the same time there's no way in hell I'm going to buy another BlackBerry again, because why should I pay my overpriced phone carrier for a BlackBerry when I can pay them that same amount of money and get a phone that has tremendously better software and hardware?
It's NOT a matter of personal opinion as to which one is better, because comparing BlackBerry phones to the Samsung Galaxy line typically results in evidence suggesting that the Galaxy has better software and better hardware.

You're getting more and more obtuse around the forum as the year bores on.
She likes her Blackberry, there is no need to flood the thread with a needless argument over you preferring iPhones or whatever garbage you're spitting out these days.
OT: I own a Galaxy S3.
Galaxy S3 > iPhone 4,5 and 6
That was just to pull your leg
I have an iPhone 4.
Reading some of the more recent posts on this thread puts the phone argument into perspective. I don't get why people get so worked up over someones choice in phone, I chose the iPhone because I like the phone and it does exactly what I need it to do (and more) but thats purely an advantage. I use it for making calls, texts, sending e-mail, web browsing and so on - the extras, such as the ability to install applications are an advantage. And iMessage for example, that is an advantage - free messaging to other iOS devices.
But to some those extras such as the ability to install apps may go unnoticed or unneeded. And their purchase would be entirely unnecessary.
If someone wants to "waste their money" on a phone that isn't as good as another one, that's their own decision, and I'm sure they are fully aware that the iPhone and such phone exists on the market, but they have obviously chose that phone for a particular reason. Prior to the whole iPhone/BlackBerry/whoever fiasco started my choice of phone would be a Sony Ericsson with the walkman, because I used my phone for all the phone features in addition to listening to music, I'm sure I could have spent a little bit more and had a better phone but would I have used the additional features? probably not, and that would be wasting the extra money I put forward to get the 'better' phone.

I somewhat agree with this. My mum has the HTC 8S and it's actually really nice to use. It has a lot built in as standard and the battery life is unlike anything I have seen in the competition. The only downside is the lack of Google Apps, but you can download non-official apps (though they lack the safety in the knowledge they're by Google).
I'm happy with my Galaxy Nexus, though. :P

Windows Phones last that long because there's so little in the way of decent apps you won't ever need to use your phone ;)
I have a HTC One X running CyanogenMod 10.1. This phone is designed to run Jelly Bean, everything is so much smoother and quicker than Sense.

Pssht :P The phone it replaced only lasted a day and that had data turned off, and was only used for emails, texts, phone and the odd app here and there. That was an Xperia Mini Pro though, so I might of invalidated my argument :P

I ordered a Nexus 5 on Thursday and I am impatiently waiting for it to arrive.
Jealous :L Will be buying the Nexus 6 or whatever they call it, most likely anyway. Never say a definite as I won't even buy a phone merely because of the brand etc :L Did you go white or black and 16 or 32? :)
Did you manage to get one before the delay?
Jack!

Sense Edition but have now flashed it to Google Edition ROM and set it so it thinks it is a Google Version, so I'll get 4.4 soon.

The Nexus 5 arrived today and I'm loving it. However, can't use the phone functions yet (..which is the idea of a phone hey) because I didn't realise it needed a micro SIM and well I only have mini SIM. Gives me an opportunity to switch telco and port the number over but that can take 2 days.
