OMG, why would he want to leave Villa?

lol im guna answer my own question here: I bet its because he doesn't have control over signings / selling players...

James Milner will more than likely now be a Man City player for the first match of the season.

thats young going to spurs then
only reason i can see is that randy lerner wont give him all the money from the milner transfer
perfect timing to resign -.-

Young to Spurs.
Wonder whether it's because the club wanted to sell him but the manager didn't. Probably the worst thing to happen to Villa. The players are designed specifically around his style of play.

edit:

Confirm, we are trying for Young. Have only offered him 60k pw on a 5 year deal. Player obviously wants more wages, he is not going to move on the same wages, there would be little point. But also recognises that City, Utd and Liverpool are not interested, and Spurs is the next big club, and it is in London. The player wants to come, but we are going to need to increase our offer.
Watch this space on this one. And don't believe everything you read in the papers.

He didn't get on with the owner, he wouldn't give him money to buy big players and only sold all the best ones (barry, milner etc) and he could either walk now or get the sack when they were mid table at the end of the season. Sensible decision and what he has done at Villa has been amazing over the last 4 years :)

O'Niell for united!

Lerner kept selling his players.

Least surprising thing of this decade.

All this not able to buy **** is ********, Villa had a wage bill problem with players with 60k a week sitting on the bench, Randy Lerner told Martin O'Neill he had to sell those players to reduce the wage bill before he could sign any more players. Martin O'Neill was unwilling the address the wage bill problem, but still wanted to sign more players therefore he walked, this comes from one of Randy Lerner's right hand man "General Krulak" who posts on the Villa forums.

True :( But it's not a total disaster, managers come and go.
Hopefully this means no more 'long ball' tactics and no more Heskey and favorites!!!!!

Not sure about starts but he featured in 42 games and scored a whopping 5 goals!
If we didn't have John Carew at the club I could understand why we have Heskey, but why have both? :S
Carew is far better at what Heskey does + was our top scorer

Heskey needs to play more football and I think the right club for him is Blackburn

O'neill will probs end up at a better club sooner rather than later.
