Hey,

I was looking at some data I have been collecting about the HxL shoutcast and noticed a huge drop in listeners, I did some investigating and have produced this information:

DJ: Management can PM me if they wish to know this
Time/Date: 12/08 at 18:55
Song: Little Trees - Help! I'm a Fish (I'm a Little Yellow Fish)
Followed by: U2 - Beautiful Day
Listeners at start: 84
Listeners at end: 12
Listener drop: 72

I don't know what happened here, the radio didn't appear to go offline. Might be worth investigating why so many listeners just stopped listening at that time, because it took nearly 4 hours to recover from this dip!

The blue line is HabboxLive Listeners

Thanks,
Jake.

This was because the DJ at the time lost connection, or something like that.
There was not much that could really be done, sometimes it happens.

Nah, the shoutcast didn't go offline at all, and the DJ hadn't disconnected as far as the data can tell.

It begs the question though, why did the listeners move on so easily? I would have just tried to reconnect, if I was enjoying the show.

This is a radio error that happens occasionally and normally on a changeover where a DJ has an incorrect bitrate or it can sometimes happen when a DJ has dodgy internet and basically the connection isn't lost but it screws up and will loop the same song so until the DJ connects or someone realises the radio keeps stopping and people have to refresh. I am not sure how long the error occured for but I remember noticing we had dropped the number of listeners drastically but basically it chucks all the listeners off and if it isn't sorted straight away can be very damaging.

The listeners did come back although not to what they were at and the casual listeners who maybe weren't that bothered just moved on but yeah it was an error that caused the drop initially.

I believe the DJ at the time did have problems with the connection which is why the listeners dropped dramatically. I know you have posted this thread in regards of feedback and wanting questions but there is far enough threads on this.

Just to add on: This big drop was nothing to do with how the department runs and all the other reasons people have been suggesting over the past few days. But in fact a DJ technical issue.

It's quite clear there was a technical issue here - no DJ is bad enough to lose that many listeners, tbh I think this thread is completely unnecessary and takes the piss a bit - it's just picking holes when holes don't need to be picked, there have already been a couple of huge threads on HxL.

I thought these scripts would cause problems and I think this is just the start of it, for crying out loud let Management get on with their jobs and stop hindering them - if you want to know why there was a listener drop earlier PM the Manager, I'm sure she'll know what little technical hitch happened - it quite clearly was a technical hitch as I said above.

On that note I'm going to close the thread. This isn't really up for discussion as there is nothing to improve on apart from making sure DJ's do not discount on a daily basis every time they DJ. If you have any other problems with how this was coped in regard of the DJ disconnecting and so on, then feel free to PM HxL Management.
