View Full Version : sleepover
8 people left... after 4 hours...........
Give us all a VIP prize. 4 hours is just sad to keep kids on a computer for. Sure, you have limit of VIPs you can give out, but this is a special occasion. This is for the first, and most likely last sleepover.
Everyone wants the VIP and not the HCs.

That defeats the point of the competition lol.
That defeats the point of the competition lol.
It's going to go on forever and it's kind of sad having a competition like this that requires you to stay in a room doing nothing.

I agree it's a silly attempt at getting the room popular but I could have told you it would last for hours on end. You should have known you'd be sat doing nothing all night... you let yourself in for it really

I'm only in it because it was at the middle of the night so I thought why the hell not...

Should have done it so every 30 mins there is an event. e.g. FF, races, bingo to keep thm entertained. If you lose, you get kicked. Some might leave after 3 hours due to the time. Last one standing wins.
Inseriousity.

I agree. Sleepover was a good idea for an event if there were things to entertain them in between. not entirely sure cos its short notice but random things that get done at sleepovers (even if you have to slip into embarrassing cliches) could have been adapted into an event to eliminate people and make it into a proper event rather than the 'keep-hxhd-busy' event it is :(
It's good to see HxHD thinking outside the box anyway, keep it up :)
o it's not that bad. just keep it how it is.

I agree, some events should have been organised. It wasn't planned that good I admit but if we do have another one i'm sure David and Shar will plan it much better than this one. I haven't been watching it due to being busy but when i've been on Habbo the room has been popular all night.
And saying 'making kids stay on the computer all day' it isn't our fault, you decided to enter it so you can leave at any time and giving VIP to everyone would defeat the point of the competition as some others said.

Yes, it was certainly underplanned and I take full responsibility for this! On a much brighter note I am extremely excited as to how popular the sleepover has been - the room has been very popular all day. The event started hours ago and even now the room is completely packed!

I love it, we definitely need to spice things up like this if we do another sleepover in the future - contestants were talking about being bored. We've had a staff meeting to discuss various activities we could do to tackle this and there's definitely going to be improvements such as visitors vs staff, 30 minute tasks by staffmembers, things like that!

seems a bit stupid as people can just move/talk once every 10 or so minutes to not get auto kick.. then they could actually win by doing that
which is my opinion is partially cheating, people who are actually active for all (/most) of the time are the deserving winners.
if you're gonna do it again then you should do random spot checks every half hour and if no one replies within 10 seconds then they should be kicked :)

Yes I noticed one or two users doing this in the early stages of the event who were told to stop. I think (hopefully) If we started doing tasks once every half hour or so it would cut down on cheaters doing this :P

9 hours and 6 people still playing fml
Silly idea, it's like an e-sleepover which is just so sad. I mean, I pity those who stayed up all this time.
You need events, and I had a big hunch that this would fail. Ah well, better luck next time!

Well--not to prove your hunch wrong but it most certainly did not fail. The room was busy all day :P
Yes, but the actual sleepover got very boring, especially towards the end. Was it the actual sleepover that made it full because when I was there I saw a bulk just hanging out like normal.

I assume so - HxHD has had a surplus of visitors throughout the summer, athough the fact that we maintained such a high visitor count throughout the entire day suggests that there is an external reason and the sleepover was the most likely the cause.
I completely agree with you about it being overboring and I'd still love to hear suggestions from both staff and feedback on what would be neat ideas to tackle this :)

This sounds a little rude I apologise but I think the prize should be upped a little. They've been in there for 9 hours now. 10 HCs, 1 month VIP and 50 rep points is quite generous but I don't think it'd do any harm in increasing the prize or rewarding the runners up too, 9 hours is a hell of an achievement and with 6 people left there's potential for it to go on much longer. Perhaps a badge too, e.g. "I stayed at the Habbox sleepover for over 12 hours".

I must admit I never expected it to go on for 9 hours. I agree with you. I'm donating the 10 HCs - I'll see what else I can throw in, and see if any of our staff would like to contribute towards the prize :)
Edit: I would just like to inform everyone that Jordy has donated 5 additional HCs towards the prize and Richard has donated 10 HCs.
The following prize structure is now in place:
1st place: 15 HCs, forum VIP and 50 reputation points
2nd place: 10 HCs
3rd place: 5 HCs (if nobody is able to donate these last 5 I think I can spare five more)

My sleep and health is more important... still three people in there. What was intended to be a fun activity has turned out to be a grueling battle against who can stay awake longest... :P

All in a days work! :P
ergh, this is now beyond boring..
personally i think there should be a compromise for the prize's and hand out 3 VIP's without any extra's.

David organises (word doesn't fit) a sleep over event and then he goes to bed in the middle of it... that's ****.

I didn't necessarily have a choice because I had to leave town. I shall announce the winners officially when I return home later thisevening (well--thisevening for me so you should see the announcement tomorrow morning). I did make sure I left the contestants in good hands and an HxHD staffmember was present when third second and first place was determined :)

it's over now, if you had read the thread, and it could have been watched in the Habbox Help Desk owned by xxMATTGxx on Habbo. You can visit the Help Desk any time.
Especially if you want to see me and Garion dancing ;)
