A DAD who plunged 300ft to his death after taking the terrifying new legal high Ivory Wave was pretending he could FLY minutes before he fell.

Ivory Wave apparently contains 2-DPMP (2-diphenylmethylpiperidine) - a strong new legal stimulant.

I'll give a month before it's revealed that he probably never even touched the drug, or that he'd had a ridiculous amount of the most dangerous drug, alcohol.

Do you not believe his death was caused by this "strong new legal stimulant" then?

Um if that is true, that is pretty crazy. Eh, hopefully the family does alright.

Other than through the hearsay of those close to him I don't see how they can tell he was on that (or if he had empty packets of it in his coat or something I guess..) but regardless this just highlights how crap an idea it was to ban mephedrone. I know other legal highs were around before it and a great many that have been produced since would still have been made, but I haven't seen a single one recently that's had more pros than cons, and at least with cathinones there was a bit more of an idea of just what they were doing to people chemically.

Also having acted like a bell just before he fell off doesn't mean he tried to fly off the cliff, he probably just slipped off the edge while doing whatever dance he was doing.

I blame the government imo. It's a continuous game of cat and mouse. They think they are doing a good job banning all the legal highs but all they're doing is banning one thing and then letting a 10x more dangerous chemical replace the ones they ban. If stuff like charge wasn't made illegal then most people wouldn't be moving onto stronger, more dangerous drugs instead

I believe we should look at this properly - as someone has already mentioned alcohol. This happens all the time with alcohol and a number of other things, the truth is that drugs cannot be regulated and we spend far too much money on a 'war' against drugs which achieves nothing. If people want to smoke, take drugs or drink then let them do so.

The idea that we can regulate drugs is barmy.

Oh well, probably his own fault.

No, I believe it was caused by the impact of him hitting the floor after he jumped off the cliff.

As Tom said, if Mephedrone had been left legal these other more dangerous "legal highs" would probably not have surfaced - certainly not become as popular as they are doing.

Meh, his fault if he can't handle the stuff, not that I condone such action :P

Exactly, but I do feel sorry for the guy. Yes, he was stupid. He ingested a chemical and had absolutely no idea what it was. At least with Mephedrone people knew what they were taking and had a good idea of how it would effect them. Ivory Wave is simply described as a "soothing bath salt" (obviously to get around the human consumption law). The active chemical is not listed and the taker therefore has no idea of what they're going to experience, it's like russian roulette. Though its suspected that the active ingredient is "2-diphenylmethylpiperidine" a euphoric stimulant that quickly begins to make the user anxious and paranoid as they re-dose. Loads of teenagers up and down the country who took Mephedrone are desperately seeking a replacement and are shoving god knows what up their noses in an attempt to recreate the now illegal high. Much more damage will come from it being made illegal - but our government is still living in the dark ages - where anything other than alcohol or tabacco is a complete taboo. One day, drugs will be legal and government regulated, but until then, more and more dangerous research chemicals will surface and things like this will continue to happen.

But like I said earlier, he probably mixed it with a large amount of alcohol which is never a good idea with stimulants.

Fixed your sentence for you

Most would have the sense to research something before they take it. If they don't then that's their own fault (Darwin's theory comes to mind here). :P If no ingredients are listed then research is pretty much impossible.

The owner of the headshop from which the man allegedly purchased 'Ivory Wave' has been arrested under suspicion of supplying class B drugs. Uh-oh.

Legal Highs always cause such a commotion and then months later they turn around and say "oops, my bad". So annoying.

They've released CCTV footage of him falling btw. Bit gross like.
