Just googled it, sounds good, I'm assuming it takes up a lot less space than MP3's then?

Was just trying it out on a surround system at someone's house, now I have to get a better sound system for my own.

And yeah, MP3s are generally 3 - 6Mb, FLAC is 20Mb - 35Mb.

I hear no difference between V0 and flac on my system. It was probably sounding good because of the system, as MP3 can sound great.

Do an ABX between a good MP3 and a flac.

You can tell the differance of a Good system im not talking logitech or any of that rubbish here im talking stuff like custom made KEF or B&W speakers driven by tube amps.

I did used to get FLAC files, but iTunes doesn't accept them - don't know if it does now.

I know what I'm talking about ;). And I know of many people on a music related forum with expensive systems that can't really hear a difference either.

I implore you to a proper, blind test. There's an excellent plug-in for foobar2000 for doing it.

We have a fairly decent system in our house and I have some good IEMs but I can't tell the difference between 320kbps MP3s and FLAC tbh. Not worth the extra space.

I saw the name of the thread and your number underneath it and assumed this was a coming out thread :'(

Surely the quality of the MP3 music depends on whatever hardware is decoding it (if that makes sense)? Like X-Fi which is a Creative creation on both hardware and software, or whatever Logitech use and so forth? It's not like .wma and .mp3 are crap anyway, they've served well enough as it is. I can't see how the increase in file size by ten fold really justifies it, if there isn't that much difference :/

Tube amps suck ass IMO, Valves weren't meant for the kind of thing they are put through generally today.

I'm like you I have to say. I'm a sucker for differentiating between audio quality - unless it's miserably bad.

My brother rants for days about how tubes are superior to electric. I have absolutely no idea what's better than what to be quite honest :P
