Okay so I have a 400GB HDD from my old computer which is virtually full and I recently bought a 1TB HDD which has very little on it other than Windows 7.

I want to copy everything from the 400GB HDD on to the 1TB. I've tried it with windows explorer and I'm having no end of problems with permissions, file names and anything else it can throw me.

Is there any software which will simply copy everything at once without giving me any crap?

you could try to 'Ghost' the harddrive, although this can be awkward to do.

Download CloneZilla and do a bare metal disk copy from the 400GB to the 1TB drive, then just extend the partition using some software in Windows to use up the full 1TB :)

'tis how I'm gunna go about it when my new HDD arrives today or tomorrow, my 2 year old 500GB is on it's last legs (dying at only 2 yrs old, wth?)

Wouldnt it be alot easier just to change the owner of the files on your old HDD to your account on your new HDD, then it will stop throwing these perms up at you.

I do this at work, works a treat :)
