New Smilies!

Ok, some of you may have come here thinking that we have new smilies to use, sadly, we dont.. yet.

Before vB4, there were some discussions about getting some new images for use in the smilies. Im just bringing that discussion back to the front. Currently, we have a very limited number (156 - seems a lot, but its not, since about 90 of these are habbo furni) If we take a look at TSR, they have a vast number; 500+.

Now im not saying id like 500, but just a bit more variety, and better designed ones.

Well surely we could keep the current ones and add the new ones. I know we're primarily a Habbo forum but do we really need Habbo smilies? Nobody uses them.

I think that's a good idea, and I would love to see some new updated smilies added. I think even though they are a small part of a forum, they are in a lot of posts and are seen quite frequently and really having new ones might just add that special touch and make us a bit more modern. :D

Instead of getting a whole new load, couldn't we just add a few here and there? Because I really like the ones we have. Maybe like in every Sunday update there could be a new smilie introduced?

I think that we should get some new smilies but at the same time keep some of the older ones OR maybe keep all the old ones but add new ones too... then i reckon all members will be happy.

It's been suggested before to replace the smilies and I think several polls showed that the forum was on the whole against removing the current smilies (not to say that opinions won't change.)

I'm against adding a whole new set of smilies because then everyone will want a new set every now and then. This would lead to an exorbitant amount. You couldn't remove some and replace them with new ones either otherwise old posts would be littered with extremely unattractive red xs all over the place.

I think pick a few that aren't served by the current HxF smilies and perhaps add them every few months, 3 or 4 every 4-6 months won't hurt and it'll add something new each time.

PS: People do request smilies often.

The first of those is about when we went to vb4, and wanted them changed back to the old ones. The other 3 were from a year ago..

I had created a thread before vb4 suggesting this, but it was put to one side because of the upgrade.

I've never said replace the current ones. All I've suggested is adding a new set. I don't see any harm :S the most it takes up on the forum is a few bytes of memory per image. Hardly breaking the bank. Then if people want to use them, they can. Everyones happy then.

I personally think the furniture ones should be removed as they are pointless and it's not like theres all the ranges there. They can grab the link from Habbox.com

Don't replace all of them, just maybe the frequently used ones. such as :) :D :( etc. but keep the more unusual ones :love3:

All i did was google free smilies and a few came up. Maybe look at some premium ones that not many would have? Ive just had a look on istockphoto and heres some cool ones:

these would obviously be resized.. lol. i dunno, i just designed ones would just look a bit.. weird

If you change the /2/ in them to a /0/ it shows you an unwatermarked thumbnail, so it will be more like the actual size.

I think a "Habbo" set of smilies should be introduced. Heads of Habbo's which have emotions and other Habbo related stuff.

Therefore the HxF smilies wouldn't get replaced nor removed and I'm sure the Graphics team are capable of doing this?
