so what happens to the people with the rare names like "A", "B" etc on each hotel, now that theres a merge who gets to be the "A" etc?

You don't have to do anything in particular. If your Habbo name is in conflict with someone else's and they are more active than you, an "$"-symbol is added to the end of your Habbo name. You can simply keep the name like that or you can change it altogether. You will be notified at login if your name has been affected. Once you change it, you cannot change it again.
