Mafia 2

Came today, been playing for an hour or so. Very cinematic, the world is alive, great visuals however people have been complaining about the lack of replayability and such, I haven't encountered that yet, obviously but so far it's a good game.

Anyone else considering getting it?

The driving is really annoying. I am currently downloading the full version so I will probably play it. I played the demo and it was good but didn't like the driving basically.

I think it looks like that game was made in about 2003, latest 2005, which says a lot about how little effort they put into it. The graphics are hideous, gameplay is slow and tedious, the open world map is trickery since it's still a linear game and the map is virtually empty with no side missions etc.

Sorry, but it reminded me of driving around in PS1's The Italian Job with a few higher res textures for the faces. Anything long distance is pixelated in the old PS1/early PS2 way rather than being blurred the way modern games do it.

Also, it's not about having the gameplay better than the graphics, because the gameplay is already worse than the graphics anyway (Repetitive running around missions, kill a guy then get away from the bad guys, only good thing is probably the storyline, not the clunky controls or what interactivity you have). If you're judging the graphics by the trailers then don't, it even says in smallprint that it isn't ingame footage.

I just dont know about this game tbh. i liked the first Mafia but isnt the point of sequals to improve on the first?
the graphics are literally only a tiny bit better than the first game. the story just sucks. and on top of all that The Godfather 2 is so much better.

I enjoyed the demo ever so slightly, the Goodfellas feel is certainly there. The aesthetics are all fine and dandy, but I don't think it ever hits its potential prime.

As I said, just wait until it's deliciously cheap.

From what I hear, the story gets undeniably good half-way through, then hits rock bottom soon after.

There is one chapter that is tedious, that's all so far. Only on chapter 6 now though.

Played the demo, looks awful. If I wanted to play a game like this, id stick with godfather. I havnt played that game in years :P
