Hi,
I was thinking, why doesn't habbox have a monthly award for a management picked best room?
The prize could be:
- 1 months forum VIP
- A room review wrote by the news manager, published on habbox.com
- Forum award
I think this would be a good way to promote the cool rooms section, and I know it is already used a lot. But I do think it would be a good idea to congratulate room designers.

I think that's a bit too much really. A forum award would be good if there isn't one already and probably 10 credits. I hear too much VIP is given out already because in the past a departemental quiz wasn't allowed.
I love that idea, i dont like 15 credits being the prize tho i think it should be:
1 Month VIP
Review by News
Trophy from management on habbo
Forum Award

You've gotta remember that we're only allowed to give out certain amounts of VIP. The Forum Department already use around 7 on MOTM which is quite a lot of months and there are lots of things that they could do but they can't give out VIP because of their budget.
What could be nice is that there is a Forum Award implemented, with prizes being something like:
1st - Forum Award + Habbo Furniture + Reputation Points
2nd - Forum Award + Smaller amount of Furniture + Reputation Points
3 runners up - Forum Award + Maybe a few Reputation Points
This allows 5 people to win every month and although you may say "people would get the Forum Award every so quickly", there are quite a lot of people who do post in that section. Perhaps there could be a "Runner up badge" and it would be a general term which is "I became runner up in a certain activity". It wouldn't be something small like coming 2nd in an event, just something rather big.
P.S. Like the Room Review idea. Question to Martin: what happened to the RRs?

I have edited the prizes, based on the first two replies - I was wondering whether to mention credits or not :)
I think a limit for whole forum awards is silly. I know it's not you implements it alex - but this would be a sort of news/forum/general management award.. I understand vip cannot be given out too much, but I don't think this should be affected too much.
I think perhaps a gold, silver an. Bronze "room designer badge" would be good.. that way if people get bronze or silver they might try again next month, to give them something to aim for? :)

The badges below are the same sort of format but in fairness you only need one. If you get in the top 3 then you'll receive the badge but only one would get the grand prize whilst the others maybe just get some rep.

I really like this idea, and think it would certainly be great for that section. The Cool rooms section has always been a strong part of the forum, and it's such a great way of attracting new users, and a feature which allows members to get feedback on rooms, which Habbo itself doesn't do too well.
I think those prizes sound good, and a review would definitely be possible, thus giving the room owner a kind of spotlight/further advertising of their room. Great idea +rep! :)

I just had an idea, so not too much vip is given.
Why not have:
First prize:
- 1 months VIP
- Gold "cool room" award
- A review by the news manager
- 25 reputation points
Second Prize:
- Silver "cool room" award
- A review by a news reporter
- 20 reputation points
Third Prize:
- Bronze "cool room" award
- A review by a news reporter
- 15 Reputation points
---
The reviews titles would be "Habbox Gold Cool Room Award - September" // "Habbox Silver Cool Room Award - September" // "Habbox Bronze Cool Room Award - September"
Meaning gold prize is still really worth getting
-----
By the way I am trying to fit the prizes around feedback - not trying to make it complicated or anything :p

I really like this idea, I know that the recent room comeptition that was run by the Moderation department was quite successful along with the other various competitions we had around the Forum. Would it be easier to set specific guidelines for each month? For example one week it has be in the theme of a jungle then the next month it changes? I think it would be easier to give our Furniture/Credits & +REP points as VIP is given out a lot (from motm).

good idea but not sure on the prizes
if it's a monthy competition, 1 month vip is too much of a prize because everyone will end up with it!
instead of vip every month, perhaps use that as a prize for seasonal comps (christmas, halloween etc)
i think rep & hc's would be a good prize

Not everyone would? :p people can win more than once and one month vip every month means one person will get it at a time - since when the next prize is given out, the previous winners will run out.

I am against giving VIP really. Habbox gives out too much already and some departments can't have any because too much is given out already.
Rep points, forum award and furni sounds good enough.

Imagine having 1 extra user having vip permanently.. it means nothing

If this isn't to much work to implement i think it's a great idea. ;)

I think this is something which perhaps could go on the site somewhere too, as a permanent record of who's won cool room awards etc, along with a decent screenshot and review of the room. Room reviews were tried in the past, and one of the reasons they failed were lack of rooms etc. Something like this could be far easier to organise, reward members of the community, get a community involvement, attract new users and promote that section on the forum greatly. Will be good to hear what general management think of this idea! :)

Totally agree here Martin. I think with this, users who already post rooms won't have to do much different, but they may put that little bit more effort in - so it can't really fail. Perhaps a Sub-forum in cool rooms, where the reviews are put in threads (e.g. one thread for gold award, silver award and one for bronze) - obviously people wouldn't be able to post in the thread.
Then if wanted, a section on habbox under the news category.

This has happened before and tbh it's all pretty subjective but the fairest way would be for the members to vote for the rooms I feel. Room reviews would be good - it used to be popular in the past.

I think it would be good to have themes for each month (Although quite loose restrictions so as not to restrict creativity). Community voting I think would be a must to get people posting more and to get people to feel more involved.

The problem with community voting is people will vote for friends imo.
Would still be nice for management to reply??

No in my experience they vote for the best rooms and the people that visit that section are the ones interested in making creative rooms. The management have been pretty busy with HXSS and Oli has only just come back so I expect it won't be that long.

This seems to have been ignored.
Any feedback by the people that actually choose what is used and what isn't :P
I guess it would be pretty good and give a little bit more variety. I swear I thought HabboxLive did a room of the week, why couldn't we just add onto that maybe? (Or re-instate with modifications)
Also, I don't think this kind of feedback is priority compared to some other stuff they have to do at the moment. I am sure they will post soon.

I do understand that it isn't 'priority', however I think replying to like every thread except 2 or 3 means there is time to at least say 'we hate the idea' :L

Maybe they are waiting on Roxy's opinion before stating any development in the idea?
