Last time I checked the shoutcast servers where hosted in the USA (correct me if i'm wrong). I'm not sure if they still are. I noticed a pattern, it always seems to be the uk djs that buffer. My assumption is the servers are too far away for some of their isps to cope with such connection, therefore they buffer.

Would it not make more sense to get servers 'closer to home', if you got servers located in the uk the connection speed would be allot faster. You could argue that the international djs then might buffer but then again we originated from the uk hotel. Afterall it makes more sense to have, say what? 10 international djs buffer than 35 uk?

For all I know the servers might actually be in the uk :P doubt it though.

Oh and to add the quality is much better but if djs are finding it hard to cope with 96kbs drop it back to 48?

DJs have the option to drop the bitrate if they wish and if their internet can't handle 96, i dropped mine to 64 :P.

They should have their bitrates the same (low enough so they can all handle it) for better changeovers in my opinion. It shouldn't be optional.

Lol no wonder why the radio buffers at changeovers

I think its substantially cheaper to host in the US.

Shouldn't all DJ's be using the same bitrate for smooth changeovers...

I was under the impression DJs were required to adhere to a unified and singular bitrate for that reason, but apparently I am mistaken. It's something we will look into.

With permission the bitrate could be lowered as not all of our internets can put up with the really high bitrate.

DJs can drop their bitrate and we can keep the good changeovers, as long as the khz bit stays the same and its the same format then changeovers shouldn't be affected. If you hear a bad changeover then its because the DJ has the incorrect settings. If people are consistantly buffering then they are asked to try a lower bitrate but I think this only happens to a few DJs and if you notice it happening a lot then you can let me or Gemma know and we can get them to stream at a lower bitrate.
