View Full Version : A little help...
Well, I got a virus which blocked all internet access and tried to make me buy some kind of anti-virus programme. Obviously, i did not buy it and i restarted my computer and set it to system repair. It has seemed to have removed the virus, but is there anyway i can make sure that it hasnt left anything behind. I already have scanned my computer with AVG 9.0 with the latest updates and with microsoft defender and it has found nothing, but as it didnt block the virus in the first place, would it detect it anyway?
Any help with making sure that it has completely gone? Thanks.

i would assume its gone, but if you're still unsure use a better anti virus software (malwerebytes or spybot i would reccomend)

Always assume the worst.
But yeah, good call on the Malwarebytes and Spybot :P
Avast is also pretty good :) just type it in on google and download the free one, it's done me proud and is the best thing around atm.

i had avast! on my laptop and it wasn't very good
Yeh best thing to do is go to Google and find a free virus checker and run that & hopefully it will tell you that you are virus free.

AVG free would be my pick of antivirus protection.
However, I only use them to scan. If I ever found a virus on my computer I would reimage.

My dad in the computer engineering business and works for himself, he knows what's good etc. All I know is that you need some decent ram in your machine :) also downloading zonealarm (a free firewall) wouldn't go a miss, it helps a lot :)

Yes most virus scanners are not exactly what I'd call light weight. Prior to installing Trend Micro Security which is what I used to use before AVG, my computer booted 20 seconds quicker :(

That's not going to help you at all in terms of getting or removing a virus ;)

Personally, I don't agree with this. At all.
You should go to an anti-virus that is well known and works well. Hope you get it all sorted. :)
