I was just wondering if anyone on here is also into their air/gas guns as a hobby? I first got into it a long time ago when we had an infestation of pigeons around our house so after getting a few quotes on a cost to come and either shoot/poison them we ended up getting someone we knew to come and shoot them. He had an XS 79 Co2 rifle and let me have a few shots. I did ok with it and he offered to sell me his old pistol (crosman 2240 ratbuster) for £40, first my dad said no but after a lot of begging he finally said yes but I had to promise I would be extremely careful with it and never fire it at anyone or any living thing. About a year later I started going on hunts with the same person that sold me the pistol, he still had the same rifle but had 3 of them so let me use one of his spares, it was a bit worn out but still worked. Recently my 2240 fell into bits when I was firing, the chamber had totally shattered but I was happy anyway because it meant getting a new one. So I chose the Walther P99 compact and it is stunning! It's really heavy with it being solid metal, compared it to a bag of sugar and it's heavier so it's probably just over 1kg but I will soon get used to it. I'm not sure if it's because I changed to copper head BB's from steel or it is just that much more powerful but it shattered a large jar of nescafe coffee with one shot. Hopefully there are people into air guns on the forum or this post will mean nothing lol.
Here it is, looks sweet.

That is gorgeous! I'm into air/gas guns. :P Growing up with 4 brothers I was involved with this sort of stuff as this is what they were into as well. We have a pretty large garden and they used to buy BB guns off the market and put cans on the oppsite side and shoot at them. They eventually got a bit serious about making it a hobby and bought some gas guns. xD Our house is on the end of a row of houses too so there's no risk of any harm to anybody (stray bb's lol).
The gun I first got was a BB shotgun, I loved it. xD My oldest brother was the first person to purchase a gas rifle. Can't remember what it was now but that got stolen in a burglary. :( One of my other brother's bought a Baretta 92FS, just like this one: http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.deviantart.com/download/82894827/Baretta_92FS_by_captaincabbage.jpg&imgrefurl=http://captaincabbage.deviantart.com/art/Baretta-92FS-82894827&usg=__ILXh0zuQvtnny3FeH9tqIO4f9Ow=&h=353&w=500&sz=29&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=gXIPIx2_GnGInM:&tbnh=92&tbnw=141&prev=/images%3Fq%3DBaretta%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%2 6biw%3D1024%26bih%3D432%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=490&ei=GgV9TKyWKYOSONa17fsF&oei=GgV9TKyWKYOSONa17fsF&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0&tx=99&ty=58http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.deviantart.com/download/82894827/Baretta_92FS_by_captaincabbage.jpg&imgrefurl=http://captaincabbage.deviantart.com/art/Baretta-92FS-82894827&usg=__ILXh0zuQvtnny3FeH9tqIO4f9Ow=&h=353&w=500&sz=29&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=gXIPIx2_GnGInM:&tbnh=92&tbnw=141&prev=/images%3Fq%3DBaretta%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%2 6biw%3D1024%26bih%3D432%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=490&ei=GgV9TKyWKYOSONa17fsF&oei=GgV9TKyWKYOSONa17fsF&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0&tx=99&ty=58http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs28/f/2008/105/e/a/Baretta_92FS_by_captaincabbage.jpg
This was also my first gas gun when he got a new one. I think he got a Walther too. :P
Ahhh those were the days. We had all sorts of gas guns. They took them over to some range near us, t'was awesome!
The favourite gas gun that one of my brother's bought was an SA80. We live near a shop that sells these so I think that's why they made it a hobby. :) But yeah, eventually a couple of my brother's moved out and the whole air rifle craze eventually died! xD My bro's sold their guns and I broke mine. :( Another thing is that they'd never hurt anything living either. They bought paper targets for the end of the garden. :D
Lmao, I remember when I was younger I was lucky to even get to hold one of them, they were always really careful with them. I hate people who are completely unresponsible with them and point them at people etc. My brother's were never like that and are all pretty mature, so that's one of the reason's my parents didn't mind them having them. :)
So yeah, not a pointless thread after-all. Sparked a nice discussion. xD :]

Yeh wasn't expecting a reply after it had been left so long. :P
I have had countless air guns over the years that I have bought from markets and random asian shops but they all just break so easily, especially if you stretch the spring to make them more powerful, then they only last a few days before the plastic just shatters. My ratbuster was good but not very reliable or accurate. It had a lot of power, the only time I have ever fired a gas gun at a person was when my friend was drunk and let me shoot his back without a t shirt. I was using steel coated BB's then and it went right under his skin. He had to go to the A&E the next day to get it removed so it wouldn't cause an infection. Just found out that the police in the US use Walther CP99's as non lethal weapons. They basically fire a couple of shots at the target then move in and arrest if the suspect is known to be dangerous.
That Baretta looks wicked, do you still have it? If you have any gas guns that you do not want anymore I would be more than happy to take them off your hands at a reasonable price. The 92 has a problem with the safety switch, it is prone to coming of its catch so even when you think it is in safety it is not. Or it can be the other way round if it breaks while it is on safety, then you are not going to be able to fire it.

Ahhh! Stretching the springs brings back memories. :'D lol
Funny you should say that actually because I do remember some trouble with the safety switch! It'd be on safety and would still fire from what I recall. xD
Sorrry man! As I said they either broke or just got sold anyways. I'm really tempted to buy another one though! xD :D

You could say the same about a thread on the topic of wood..
On topic: Apple, do/did/have you ever used paintball bbs? :P They're epic, looking at the shed in my garden and there's red dots all over it. The only problem with them is that sometimes they explode in the barrel. :( xD

Nope never bought a paintball gun for myself, can imagine it would be really messy. xD I kind of know someone that has one though, he is an idiot and when it was really snowy here instead of throwing snowballs at buses he was using his paintball gun... Can you suggest anything I can video myself shooting? It would look like a beast if I video'd myself smashing one of these in 1 shot:

I can't really think of anything that would make it look even more powerful though. Any ideas or things that you have ever shot at? :P

Lightbulbs are made with the thinnest piece of glass ever, I could smash one with a £5 bb gun from the market. :P
I don't like the idea of BB's with paint inside, if one split open inside my gun it would ruin it ;[
Just ordered 100 12g Co2 cylinders for £20, love my ebay bargains!!

That does actually look quite good. If you do get a rifle of that size you will find that it gets annoying as it attracts a lot of attention. With a small air pistol nobody really needs to know you even have it with you.

Smith and Weston do some neat looking guns, was yours Co2 powered?

The co2 arrived yesterday which was much faster than expected, they don't seem to look like they have been recycled too many times either.

If we are to stray into airsoft, I have quite a nice armoury consisting of a Tokyo Marui VSR-10 (Upgraded) a Tokyo Marui MK23 SOCOM, Maruzen P99C, Colt 25 by cybergun and a Double Eagle triple shot shotgun.
Woohoo. :-)
