Hey,

I'm trying to find the correct answer on the internet and not having much luck or confusing myself with certain websites. The servers you connect to for Xbox Live and so on, are they owned/managed/ran by Microsoft themselves or are they done by other companies. I believe PSN is not Sony servers etc.

Thanks to anyone who has any information regarding this!

From Wikipedia..

"Xbox Live exclusive servers are based in Seattle, Washington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle,_Washington) while using some of Microsoft's other servers in Quincy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quincy,_Washington) and Yakima, Washington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakima,_Washington).[15] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_Live#cite_note-14)"

They probably are MS, just because of theyre nature of how they dont support many other companies (you can see this in the xboxs general hardware like the lack of bluetooth)

Yes they are ms. thats why they dont allow gamespy to host somegames. I think it was when a rumour for battlefront 3 popped up stating that the multipayer servers where listed on gamespy for ps3 but not xbox.
