When will people wake up and realise that he is absolute garbage?

He's not the best player in the world, but he's arguably the best right back England have.

Are you being serious?

Anyway, he's not awful. He's not amazing and normally not England first XI quality but he's the best we have and we could do worse. He's young and improving though.

He once again proved he can't play with a winger on the same side of the pitch as him. RM is a wasted position when he is playing for England.

He wasn't that bad. What might be good for England and him is if we play Walcott and AJ on the wings and switch them so Walcott is left and vice versa. That way Johnson can overlap.

But we'll need a proper DM for it to work properly and Barry isn't a proper DM, at least not for England. The sooner Rodwell gets involved the better.

Yeah hardly seen him in that game, maybe that's just me being blind though.

Did interest me though, the fact everyone in the team was playing in the positions they play for in their clubs, I think that might've made a massive difference. (Yeah I got that off the commentary, I'm not that good a footy fan) But yeah well played from England, I turned it off on the last 10 minutes because my mum was moaning, and I checked the score afterwards to see 4-0, not surprised Defoe got his hat-trick, plays like a beast.

There are better peeps in England who can play his position though. He did play alright for England in the world cup though, I mean not amazing but he was not terrible by any means.

Go back to wearing your pajamas ;)

But no there isn't, which is the problem. Although again, I don't think he's that bad.

I just hope Richards progresses. He has all the tools to be a good player, but needs to work on the mental side of things.

Emile Heskey. He retired though. BIG LOSS!

Johnson just needs to learn to defend. His makes wrong decisions that's all. Apart from that I think he's a good player.

If only Richards kept developing like he did, now he won't have a chance at City.

iRaaave.

He's fine..

Luke Young is a better defender than him, but I think he retired form international football :S

Richards isn't like Johnson. If you're looking for someone whose calm on the ball and can pass then you want Johnson, if you want someone who can stand off a man and hug them then you want Richards.

he's not that bad and he'll learn. The alternative is Carra or Brown who are both getting on, so i'd rather have Johnson and train him up for the long term rather than leave him behind and play the old guard which really doesn't make Glen better or have a positive impact on the team. Brown is also always injured :-)

Yeah I know he isn't, but Richards has all the tools to be a good player but he needs to work on a lot of his game. He needed to move away from City and play every game but he can't do that now which is a shame.

Gary Neville would be better.

Johnson can't defend and yet he's a defender. Defenders need to be able to defend believe it or not.

I said it throughout the world cup and I will say it yet again! Johnson, Lennon and Walcott's most important and deadly aspect to their game (imo) is their pace. If they want to utilise it effectively they need to be fed the ball early by the RB. At the world cup whoever was playing on the right hand side of midfield would be standing in acres of space screaming for the ball but Johnson's priority seems to be running as far as he can with it (as the space the winger in front of him has diminishes). If Johnson plays the person on the right gets forced inside because he goes too far with the ball which pretty much cancels out and reduces the opportunity for wingers to beat and run at defenders.

I don't know if it's a case of getting the balace between defending/attacking right but he needs to learn from Ashley Cole.

I agree, but it doesn't make him a terrible player like people are saying. He just needs to adapt and learn.

He's not terrible he just doesn't suit the way England play football. He will only work if we play a narrow formation with no wide players ahead of him (which would be silly because we have quality wide men). An unselfish right back is needed.

He's a defender, not a winger.

FGS why do people judge a defender on his attacking abilities?

He'd be a good winger. He is a ****e defender.
