But warfare was the same as it was in 1940, and it was optional to fight to help your country, would you sign up to fight?

I would sign up to fight as I would sign up to fight the Boer wars and the Falklands. I would however be critical of the decision to attack over Poland at a time when the British armed forces were very weak and more to the point; the stupid decision to declare war over the issue of Poland because the very plain fact is that there was little we could do seeing as Poland was on the other side of Europe.

Then after the war (if having survived) you'd have to question the point of the war, seeing as the countries we originally went in to 'liberate' are now under a socialist dictatorship which was far worse than anything seen in the Third Reich and to the west of Europe. To add to that, the British Empire was then eclipsed and disintegrated not long after along with the German economy recieving billions from both Britain and the United States whilst Britain sunk deeper and deeper into economic misery until rthe 1980s when that trend was finally reversed and Fabianism was rolled back to a slight extent.

In many ways we [Great Britain] lost the war.

I do agree with you though, in many ways Britain did lose the war as it was all down hill from there but the democracy and freedoms we fought for remain strong around the world.

I would most certainly sign up and fight if my country needed me, regardless of the war, soldiers aren't there to question wars, that's up to the politicians.

Given that I had already... yes, without question. Regardless of the conditions and nature of warfare I would join to fight the war as my late great grandfather did before me.

I would sign up as I would like to sign up for the Iraq war, but my mum said she'd brake my legs if I did.

Given that the British Army is no longer involved in combat operations in Iraq, and your likely operational deployment would be to Afghanistan, she shouldn't have a problem now ;)

Morally we won the war.
Economically we lost.

That's easiest way to put it.

The European Union was not around at this time although the concept was, and although the EU is similar to the Third Reich in concept (the idea of one entity across Europe and the closeness to corportism) Adolf Hitler never bought into the idea of a federal Europe whereas his advisors and ministers did. Infact as the detailed book i'm reading at the moment by Christopher Booker, Deception, shows - many of the people behind the idea of a European Union were the ones in opposition to Nazism. I am talking quite obviously of that of the Soviet Union which annexed Poland and all of the Eastern European countries of which the war was based on to liberate them - world war two simply swapped one evil system for a far worse and more evil system.

In the Third Reich they had food, good transport and a general good quality of life (the majority). Under the Soviet Union they had none of that - and the Soviet regime was even more so brutal than that of the Nazi regime.

The thing with socialists [yourself] is that you don't understand that rich people do pay more in tax, hence they earn more and thus they pay a greater amount of tax - of course I know what you are advocating which is nothing but state theft - but i'll point to where it leads to in numerous examples ranging from North Korea, the Soviet Union and socialist states around the world including our own during the 1970s.

It is interesting though that you seem to be defending the Soviet Union (which my post refers to) because most socialists and left wingers often deny that the USSR was socialist at all when infact that is exactly what socialism leads to. Before the collapsed of the Soviet Union many left wingers in this country (Labour, the Liberals and the Unions) all defended the USSR and even campaigned and championed its cause - since its collapse, in order to be taken seriously the left has dropped the defence of the USSR and now prefers to deny that socialism ever took place there when it did.

The cause of socialism is noble but frankly it leads to poverty, brutality and death every single time it is implemented. Far more innocent people died under the Soviet regime than died under the Nazi regime and the same goes for China under Mao (and as it is at present) where more people have died thanks to socialism than due to Hitler and his slaughter (then again, his party was also classed as socialist also).

Even if you take away the Third Reich from the death toll figure, socialism has killed more people than anything else we have ever seen in history yet it still has advocates - quite incredible.

Seeing as I was born here and support my country in any way possible, I would also go to war and fight and serve for this country. I would not want to see us be defeated and taken over by anyone.

I'd be what's that thing again where they sent little kids to live in the country side with some random farm people erm something like evactuated :P

LOL ROZI PERFECT.

Even if I was a guy I wouldn't. I'd be no use anyway plus you get bollocked the whole time and it's not like it'll make any difference even if I bothered.

No point.

No, because I do not believe that it solves anything - I hate fighting and rarely think it can be justified.

The only way world peace can be achieved is by sticking all the world leaders in one room and giving them MDMA. I guarantee you they'll be best mates in three hours. :P
