I had an argument with someone on Facebook and I got banned for saying stuff but the person I said it to said stuff to me, but hasn't been banned. I was wondering if someone could write me an appeal, you'll probably say no, but anyways :) +rep for any help or appeal ;)
Just send them an e-mail telling them exactly what happened and tell them that the other person was doing the same but didnt get banned... hopefully they may unban you - good luck with it anyway

They can ban you from Facebook as a whole or just specific features, my friend was banned from using fb chat for a whole week ;l
Yeah I didn't know they did it either. I'm afraid I can't help much with an appeal as you can't really say you meant it in a different context or anything because they have chat logs. I'd try send some form of an appeal and if it doesn't work just try again and say that he was doing it too. Also, this person might not have been saying things as bad as you?

Need to spread, I wanted to give you +rep for the first appeal ;)
The person said more than me, they called me the same names and also has been trying to track down my address and number, she got my number from an ex-mutual-friend :|

When you enter your email and password into the log in box, does it say something like your account has been disabled? This happened to me once, i'll c+p the text I get when i attempt to log in on my old account:
Account disabled
Your account has been disabled. If you have any questions or concerns, you can visit our FAQ page here.
I think it's really harsh that facebook disabled your account without a first warning. whatever you said in the argument, the recipient reported you because it may have offended him/her. I'm not so sure you can get the account back, but just make a new one. It is painful but that's life :)

I don't get why they can't see what she's said on the chat logs :S

Why was my personal Facebook account disabled?
Facebook accounts that have been reported or detected for policy violations may be disabled by Facebook. Possible reasons include, but are not restricted to:
Continued prohibited behavior after receiving a warning or multiple warnings from Facebook
Unsolicited contact with others for the purpose of harassment, advertising, promoting, dating, or other inappropriate conduct
Use of a fake name
Impersonation of a person or entity, or other misrepresentation of identity
Posted content that violates Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities (this includes any obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit photos, as well as any photos that depict graphic violence. We also remove content, photo or written, that threatens, intimidates, harasses, or brings unwanted attention or embarrassment to an individual or group of people)
Please review Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities to learn more about specific types of conduct and content that are not permitted on the site.
If you have not posted violating content or otherwise violated our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, keep in mind that your account may have been recently compromised by someone else. Also, our systems sometimes disable accounts temporarily for security reasons.
If you believe your account was disabled by mistake, click here (http://www.facebook.com/help/).

Whatever you do, don't go for the immature approach such as "But he started it" or "He called me names as well". That is the type of thing that happens in primary school, you need to let them know you understand what you did wrong. By acknowledging the fact that you did wrong and have learnt from your mistake only then would they unban you. Good luck with it anyhow.

well if you were banned then the person you had the argument with was the one who reported you. If you want to see them banned then report them for their side of it and email facebook appealing your side, most of the time employees of social websites couldn't care less. Explain that you aren't a trouble maker and it was a personal quarral between you and the person.
