Did anyone else watch this last night?

I was actually impressed by it. Like it wasn't anything particularly amazing or spectacular but I think you felt a connection with the guy.

Thoughts?

If you haven't watched, I suggest you do so you don't miss out.

My only query is: What was the relevance of Derren Brown talking to us "Live" at points?

I thought it was stupid him talking live in points of the show. I thought it was funny as he was being mean (for the good) to that guy, pretending he was in an actual policemans house, and that he lost his £400 mobile. In the end, Derren completed his goal.

He was talking live because the flight sim at the end was live wasn't it?

Tbh, it was a bit pointless, but it's interesting to see how the mind works and the different things he did to what his normal life is like.

No, I don't think the flight sim was live because Derren wasn't wearing what he was wearing in the live bits in the flight sim bit.

And i thought the live bit where he said, its now '8/9/10 11:12" was really cool :3

I watched the first half but then fell asleep :(, I didnt think it was that great some of the stuff he did almost seemed planned, If you found a policemans wallet and keys you wouldnt really go inside thier house have a drink and watch tv the same goes for the van full of party supplies.

Wait, how did they simulate turbulence on the plane?

Probably went through a specifically turbulant route, although i too wondered that.

I found the live parts really random and pointless, and with anything that derren brown does, it feels setup, especially the train bit. but who knows.

was it only me who thought it was fake lol.......

Wait, how did they simulate turbulence on the plane?

They could have just used the controls on the plane and shook them or some such lark?

Okay i love Derren Brown. He is so amazing (and even more amazing live!).

The show was great, not his best but it was still entertaining to watch. Everything he does is wonderful in my opinion! At times i thought it surely has to have been staged, but i doubt it really was, that was probably just my reaction to how spectacular it was. The guys life clearly got changed and i think its actually amazing that Derren can do that. Can't wait for his next show!

It feels setup but it isn't. If Derren Browns next live tour comes anywhere near you then go! It's serious mind ******y and it's impossible to fake because it's live.

Not quite impossible to fake because it's live. They could have actors who pose as random members of the public. Frankly it would be interesting to go more than once to see.

Just watched this on 4od, absolutely brilliant; just like the rest of his shows.

I know what you mean about "feeling a connection" with the guy.. I actually feel kind of proud for him :P
I'm guessing there will be another one in 30 days then? :)

Oh, I realised he said 8/9/10 but it didn't occur to me the time followed on too.. haha :P

He usually throws things around the audience to ensure the person is chosen randomly.

He throws frisbees or stuffed toys far into the audience to prove it's totally random. Plus in this years tour one of the tricks involved everyone in the audience where they had to go up and tick in a book on stage in the break and he'd predicted the results. It's obviously not "magic" and is misdirection and psychological influence but boy is he good at it.

I agree, if it was that easy landing the plane in a sim then **** me. Also the fact that the train bit as well as the polocemans house. I prefer his live shows to all this bollox he does now. The series he did this time last year was total crap

I'm definately going to watch this later, is he on every week?

I assume every month due to the 30 day countdown.. not sure though.

I don't think the train bit was fake, the train was just moving very slowly and they used different camera angles to make it look like it was travelling fast. Obviously the train driver was in on the act and he could stop the train whenever Derren said.

yeah i thought it was good but that guy must be gullible to believe that he was actually landing a plane i mean do you not think the cabin crew would have some training in that sort of thing like emergencies. Also how do you just put someone into a coma land a plane then wake him up in a simulator? Same with getting him to come out of bed? I mean i know darren is good but that's like weird :P
