Meaning it could in fact return next year or any other time.

Seeing as how Big Brother's ratings for the last few series have been low, hence its cancellation, Channel 5's ratings are going to far from "rocket".

They will still notice a significant difference. Let's be serious - who watches Channel 5? :L

While it's true figures will increase, since the show doesn't pull big ratings anyway on Channel 4, couple that with fans refusal to even switch over to the network (which will happen), I don't think the show will survive long if it's resurrection, which by the way is not official yet. Not sure why the thread states that the show has been sold when you link to a site that says it's not a done deal.

Hmm, good point. I suppose it depends on how Channel 5 choose to do it too; they might end up messing it up for good :P

Not like I care, reality television is all the same ****.

Rocket would probably be the wrong word to use, but given that Big Brother has in the past seen a high of nearly 6 million viewers and, the average for series 11 (just gone) was 2.5 million it would seem that Five could anticipate a pleasant increase. Some of their major shows have only managed to reach 1.5 million (http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/apr/22/ratings-volcanic-ash-flight-terror) and so even ratings of 2.5 million would be a big step for Five.

It might not be enough for C4, but it would increase ratings, albeit not massively, elsewhere.

Edit; saw your post following Mathew's after posting (started writing beforehand). Fair points, just seemed like in the above post you were refusing to acknowledge it would positively affect their ratings at all.

Indeed. Shows like Big Brother are all made up in the edit. What's shown on TV is never like what actually went down.

Reminds me of a certain film character who just won't die.

Well it could be even better with ratings considering he owns magazines, which he can use to further publicise the program.

Although I think it time they let go, its over. Only way they can save it is by dramatically changing the format.
