I wanna get an iPhone for Christmas or Birthday but I've got a dilemma.

I've looked on the O2 it says price £129 but then it says £30 a month, does that mean I've got to buy it and pay £30 a month as well or does it mean I've got to pay £30 a month until it's paid for?

http://shop.o2.co.uk/promo/iphoneindex/Pay_Monthly/3GS_8GB

Also is the iPhone 3GS on P & G

it means you pay £129 upfront, then £30 a month for 18 months - if you want to look for cheaper ones then the 24 month will be less.

You pay the £129 to get the phone then £30 a month for your contract.

So overall you pay £670

Yeh but you can sell the phone at the end of your contract for at least £200. So in effect you only paid for your contract and a little less too.

That's what many tend to do when they realise how expensive iPhones are - go for a Blackberry. If you go for the £45 a month contract the starting cost drops from £129 to about £90 I think. But there's no point in you actually doing that unless you need to have more minutes/texts than the £30 per month contract. Like someone has already said, at the end of the contract you still end up with a phone worth £350 - £400 if you go for the 4 because new they are £500 to £600.

Also blackberries are crap phones.

No he shouldn't, it's a phone with faulty components and so much pretentiousness it makes the pope look like a chimney sweeper on less than minimum wage.

Go with the South Korean overlords. Samsung Galaxy S.
One of the best phones you could ever hope to own in recent history.

Funny you should say that because I have the 4 and haven't had any problems whatsoever. Compared to the 3GS it is better looking, more powerful, has a massively noticeable clearer screen, has a much better camera, has flash/torch and more things that make me love it more than the 3GS. The Galaxy is a great alternative, I should know; my sister has it. However given the choice I would happily take the iPhone 4.

Sad sad sad. Do you have to impose your ridiculous comments on how **** apple are, and that samsung is the best ever. It's at least two threads I've seen in two days, without considering anything else about the thread. Ive owned both a samsung phone (omnia hd) and two iPhones. IPhone 4 is the best phone I've had, and I actually haven't had any problems with it.

Guys, iPhone and Android are two competitors, they both have their strengths and weaknesses, as does the hardware the OSs run on, now move along :P

I had the iPhone, and I ended up selling it. The problem with the iPhone is the restrictions, they are just too much. Get a HTC device, you won't regret it :)

Too restricted in terms of what? Mine does everything I could possibly want it to, if I want to have even more freedom then I can jailbreak it.

If you want an iPhone 4, then tesco are currently doing the best deal.

I think the fact theyre 12 month contracts is pretty decent, but the 24 month contract is very decent. I mean the 35 quid a month one isnt bad either... but if you wanted to, I'd get a 32GB iPhone 4 for that price. That means when you wanna exchange the phone, you could probably mobile recycle the phone and get the new iPhone on PAYG for the same price (when it comes out). Depends how you'd want to play it, but its the best deal for iPhone 4 right now.

You don't have to constantly contradict people's opinions, especially when they've actually used the products in question ya know :P

Just want to know what an iPhone would restrict him from doing. Jailbreaking them allows you to have much more freedom but that also means having to have a far more complicated/unclean interfaced phone so might as well be an Android in that respect. :P

Buy an iPhone from Apple, get a 10 pounds deal at tesco for 500 minutes unlimited txts and internet, its a one month contract so np, when iphone 5 comes out, sell iphone 4 for almost the same price depending if you kept it fresh and buy iphone 5.

Best deal ever.

Agreed with above! It's a one month recurring isnt it? But yeah proper decent.

Regarding the Android v iPhone argument, he'll get an Android phone if he wants one...?
