Yeah, seen this on my Russian satellite channels, really interesting I think & it could extend life expectancy to 120 years instead of 100.

Medicine? That makes it sound like old age is an illness that needs to be cured (and no I am not saying the scientist is ageist). Why do we need to live to 120? Why do we need to avoid death, a natural occurence that's going to happen anyway :(

the question is: why?
sure living to 120 sounds good now at our age but surely when your 80/90/100 you wouldn't even be considering living to 120 and wouldn't even want to

it'd be lovely to be able to live those few more years, but death and ageing is a nautural part of life, and it shouldn't be messed with.

its just using stuff to our advantage. Not long ago the life expectancy was like 30/40, all we done is use knowledge to make us live longer.
anyway ill buy this, but not instantly.

Hmm I do like RussiaToday, much fairer coverage of all topics and uses real investigative journalism.

The real way to prevent a population crisis is to allow the poorer countries to develop faster as it is a well known demographic fact that the more developed a country is, the slower its population will increase (or even fall as is predicted with the PROC & Japan). In short, the best way to stop overcrowing on this planet is to burn as much coal, oil and gas as we can thus to bring the poorest out of poverty quickly. (see video below);

I think this is a good move, I would like to live for longer/as long as possible provided my life was worth living at such a ripe old age. I did learn though not that long ago that apparently us humans could only live to a maximum age of something around 300 years to 500 years as our brains eventually reach a point where they cannot grow/regenerate/hold anymore information. So 120 is the target now, but getting past 300/500 will be a challenge. :P

aussie has an aging population. people living longer is just gonna harm us more.

Sounds interesting I think he could actually be on to something, but I do agree that were just going increase the world population.
Also I doubt it will be on sale in 2/3 years time because you have to look at the side affects during a large period of time.
I just had a horrible thought that old women will be taking this and will look in their 20's and 19 year olds will be thinking theyre fit when they are probably their nan. bahaha
Did anyone note 'Russian'?
I doubt they'll play ball with the rest of the world with this technology, or they'll sell it off at an extravagant rate.

The logic all seems right for this to be quite promising. If I was 100 years old, I'd love another 20 years of free heating from the government. Just sayin'

As it stands right now I don't think about trying to come up with a way for just myself to live forever. I'm more worried about my parents. I really don't want to see them grow old and pass on, but of course that's something inevitable that we're all undoubtably experiencing.
@Dan and others who mentioned RussiaToday. Great site--just made my RSS feed on the iPad.
